Hi I dont think theres a simple answer to the ascites problem because draining the fluid doesnt fix it.It can cause other problems and sometimes the fluid can come back so quickly you have to weigh up the stress of the hospital visit etc.If it can be done at home this can be easier but less successful with pockets.What most people find though is that the fluid builds up quicker after each subsequent tap so its important to be on diuretics to slow it up a bit. Hi Carol how wonderful to have this window of wellness.I think sometimes things stablise for a while even when people are very ill and this is a gift for you and your kids and of course if Charlie is eating and drinking and doing a little more physically then this will perpetuate this a little more so terrific I think Janet

JanetHi reduced energy level is the main problem with gemcitabine and it can be a cumulative effect so you just have to pace yourself.Hair loss is not usually a problem Janet
Darla you were right .I am a caring person-It has been my job for 31 years as an RN.But as I feel unable to return back to work I am getting a lot of comfort from this site.Thankyou for helping

JanetI think you shouldnt worry about the house.Hygene with food is good and with toilets but otherwise just be careful around the people with coldsetc.The caring role I t hink just evolves to take in whats needed and changes a bit.Its a challenge to anticipate it sometimes
