Julia, you do get that burst of energy/adrenalin that keeps you going in those early weeks and lets face it there is a lot to do! and after that you have to keep the energy going by whatever works and tips are always welcome ***(
……cool, now that is a compliment! Janet xmagicSpectatorI am very sorry but I think Gerry is gravely ill and perhaps whatever treatment he was given he may not respond,he has no reserves and the cancer is progressing rapidly Have you spoken with the social worker at the hospital?…you need support+++ What hospital is he in?
I wish you strength, you will get through ..take all the help and support that is
offered
addit no it has nothing to do with the methadone and yes most of his symptoms are due to the liver failing, the albumin will keep falling unfortunatelyJanet
magicSpectatorJose,
I think it is not a good idea to transport your sister that long distance in her current condition. It would be too hard on you all at this time.Your sister is gravely ill but she has some really distressing symptoms that need to be adressed in or out of a hospital setting.I think she needs an increased dose of Haloperidol or other antipsychotic medication and if she is not in hospital you need a greater medical presence at home, nurses need to BE there with you all, wherever she is she needs more professional supervision JanetmagicSpectatorYou are both lovely sisters and it is a pleasure to know you,Julia Wise…….
take care now JanetmagicSpectatorDear friend,
I wish I could be there to help and support you in person,it has been so difficult in this last while…thinking of you all JanetmagicSpectatorDear Julia,I am not sure if the restarting of this tablet is such an issue. If they stopped oral meds there must have been a safety issue with the swallowing and also the cough reflex becomes weak so there is a danger of choking.
Also the oral medications dont seem to work that well at a certain point,Susan might not digest and absorb them.Usually anti anxiety medication is mixed with morphine and given via syringe driver and maybe this combo needs fine tuning. The antidepressant may not be available as an injection but haloperidol and or midazolam could be used.
You sound a bit end of tetherish and you are surely very tired with all this stress…….take care and use your support people!magicSpectatorThis video was interesting to me,the bloke in it could almost have been Joel ,my husband in his final weeks.Joel wrote a series of poems and wanted to cook for everyone and wanted to say how he felt to those he loved….but unlike the wife in the video who felt elated I didnt travel so well.I felt that my husband and I were on different parallel journeys and mine was a bit of a nightmare…but…..his attitude and acceptance did help and certainly helped my sons a lot.As a nurse I have observed that those who go on fighting and not accepting death right till the end make life much harder for those that are left Janet
magicSpectatorIwould like to endorse Marions wonderful advice about the living for the day,it is a great reminder to me!
We all go through such difficult scenarios with illness and loss but we can try to do our best and look after all those around us and that does help really…
JanetmagicSpectatorWe have a different system here for measuring (as do many other countries) reference range for bilirubin is about 24 the upper limit I think and yes stents can be done percutaneously, also pretty common for ercp to be unsuccessful with or without surgery
janetmagicSpectatorI miss her
magicSpectatorC everafterwidowed.com.au is a site for younger people,it is in Australia but you could look at their forums which could help
magicSpectatorI am not a young mum,I was 50 when my husband died a couple of years ago but I had my youngest son still at school,he was 17 and my husband had only been sick for 5 minutes!then passed away!
I found everything overwhelming, still do at times and I think when you have a lot of responsibilities it can be so hard.Of course you have your child with you and that is comforting at the same time as it is challenging.I think there are some young bereaved websites,I dont know as I am in another country but I wish you well JanetmagicSpectatorMargaret,
thinking of you JanetFebruary 26, 2011 at 3:34 am in reply to: Not CC but Cholangiolocarcinoma (CLC). What the F is this? #48406magicSpectatorRoslyn,I am not familiar with this type of cancer. It seems ultra rare.
It seems to me that your oncologist is doing his best to research it and obtain the information from where he can.As you like him and have a good rapport I think you should stick with him.If you were coming down to Sydney anyway you could get another opinion but maybe not travel down specially.
It does explain the different choice of chemo,I did wonder about that.
good luck JanetmagicSpectatorDear Andrea’
My very sincere condolences to you and your mum, what a terrific support you were, you did so well.Good luck with coming busy times Janet -
