ModeratorBill,
your advise of seeking other opinions is (in my mind) one of the most important decisions to make when encountering CC. There are different approaches to this cancer, and all should be considered when searching for treatment choices.
Thinking of you and the boys and sending best wishes.

ModeratorLisa,
thanks so much for sharing this. Presently, I am attending the ASCO in Chicago where I have addressed CC when introducing myself to other patient advocates and physicians, alike. Most, if not everyone (excluding the physicians) have never even heard of this cancer which of course does not come as a surprise to any of us. There is plenty of support though, coming our way. People are networking, giving hints and suggestions with the hope of drawing attention to CC. It feels good to be heard.
Hoping for you to have recovered from your hour-long lap around the track.

ModeratorEllen,
so nice for you to be posting here especially, since this is the very first time for you doing so.
Digestion issues are commong even post surgery. Stool softener became part of the daily routine for my husband, and it helped tremendously. Also, have you mentioned to the physician the discomfort you are experiencing? And what was the reason for the removal of the stents? When do you have pain? Is it always associated with the digestion? I am sure for others to have some suggestions for you.

Moderatormoncap, welcome to the site and congratulations on the successful surgery your Dad has had. Cholangitis and infection have been mentioned occuring post surgery, and thereafter. In fact, Peter had written about it, several times. You might want to use the search function by entering cholangitis and Peter as the author. Hopefully, it will lead you to the thread. Possibly, you can join Peter on his life chat scheduled for Wednesday the 4th of June. You might have a chance of mentioning it to him, then.
Others may also have some suggestions.

Moderatortanoland,
This is what I have learned so far: surgeries to treat cholangiocarcinoma will depend on a number of factors. Whipple surgery (a pancreaticoduodenectomy) is most commonly performed when CC has invaded the pancreas or, of course, for the treatment of pancreatic cancer. You can read up on it through the internet.
Have you sought out a second opinion in re: to the treatment for your sister?
Wishing for the absolute best

When you call the given phone number most likely you will be given an e-mail address which will allow you to contact him, personally. If you need help in connecting with him please, contact me either through the board or, you may e-mail me.

Moderatorvk933,
so sorry to be hearing about your Mom.
There is a Dr. Sean P. Cleary at Princess Margaret Hospital. His number is: 416 340-5331. Was he one of the attending physicians? If not you might want to contact his office, for another opinion. I wll try to e-mail him, also.
Best wishes,

ModeratorBrenda, sending tons of good wishes and the best of luck to Scott. Please, stay in touch. Thinking of you.
