The ONLY dumb question is the one not asked. I’ve been on this board long enough now (3 months) to know that the things you’ve been told are simply not true.

Chin up, our prayers are with you.

Thank you so much, Maria. This is what makes this board so valuable. So many people with so many experiences.

Thanks everyone for the responses. The Onc did throw out 3 general choices…..a different “accepted” chemo cocktail, a phase 1 clinical trial, or (don’t know the language) thing where they inject chemo directly into liver by going through vein in the leg.) He is presenting it to tumor board in the morning then we will meet and discuss what to do. I will forward this info on to him via his clinical P.A. (as I have already forwarded a couple of other things I have found).

I sent an Email to University of Alberta about their development and if there were any trials running yet available.

    This was their reply:

Having finished the clinical trial using DCA for the treatment of brain
cancer, we are hopeful our news about initial findings will allow us
and others to conduct larger scale trials with all forms of cancer a reality
in the near future. At present we have no enrolling trials at the University
    of Alberta Hospital.

We cannot recommend the use of DCA for the treatment of cancer as it is not yet approved for this use by the regulatory authorities.

We are sorry we cannot be of more immediate help.

    Sincerely,
    The DCA Research Team

Thanks, Lainy. I think when I get home (I’m at work now) I’m going out into the cold air and let a few choice “cowboy phrases” ring through the atmosphere myself

    Sistercorb,

Just want to add my love and heart-felt condolences. Man, it’s hard to lose a parent. My prayers are with you and your family. Look for the strengths that you have added to your character because of this trial. You are a better and stronger person because of it.

Tom/Ben, what a trip you have been on. Hope the trip to Houston happens and you can get the help you so desire.

Hang in there, brothers. Heart and prayers with you both.

Wow, Jilly, that is an amazing story. I’m certain that our bodies have the power to heal itself if we will just give it a chance. Keep up the great work and attitude.

Sandy and Grover, welcome both of you. Sandy, I had the same feeling right at first when I was under the care of the surgeon. When they determined my inoperability, they transferred care to the oncologist. It just seems like that transition took forever to get treatment set up and started.

I hope you find comfort and helpful voices here on this board. They are great people here.

Sandy, welcome, welcome, welcome. It’s sad we have to go through these horrendous trials, but I am absolutely certain that they make us better people.
Hang in there, and visit us often.

Welcome, Tiffany. It is a hard pill to swallow since you have no outward appearances of cancer. I’ve been in the same boat. No real cancer symptoms.

The folks here on this board are the absolute best. Please come back often and let us know how you are progressing. Our hearts and prayers are with you and your young family.

    Glenys,

Welcome. I just live down the road in Hooper. I was diagnosed with intrahepatic CC in August this year. My is inoperable for the time being anyway. Have been doing chemo, with my last treatment last evening. Next week they will do a pet scan to see what has changed. Hoping for the best. I’m being treated at Huntsman. I hoping and praying for some good news…………….for both of us. Keep the faith.
