SpectatorDear Julia,
It didn’t upset me that you posted it. I was quite shocked by my reaction. I thought I had toughened up a lot since Lauren was first diagnosed, but sometimes things just blind side me and make me cry. This was one of them. I haven’t cried in a while so I think I was just due. I think it was very powerful and the attitude of Lord Philip Gould was admirable. I pray for you and your dear Susan every day.

SpectatorJulia,
I had a very hard time watching this video. I thought it was beautiful, but it really upset me for some reason. I cried and cried through the whole thing and for some time after. I didn’t know I would be so affected. I must’ve had a lot of built up emotions that needed to come out.

SpectatorHey Grover,
I hadn’t heard anything from you on here so I started looking at your blog every day. You sure have hit a rough patch. You seem to be heading on the right track now. I hope after this Friday’s procedure you can get back to a little normalcy. It was nice to see your picture with Cindy and Sue at the bowling fundraiser. I am not a stalker. I am friends with Sue and Cindy on FaceBook! Haha!! Take care and smooth sailing ahead, Captain.

SpectatorLauren had that problem when she first started taking Morphine. We tried everything, but what got her to go were glycerine suppositories. Now she takes two stool softeners before bed and doesn’t have a problem.

SpectatorDear Susie,
I am happy to hear you had a nice vacation in Hawaii. That is so great you got to get away with your family. I am very sorry to hear about your ovarian cyst. I will pray that it is benign. It reminds me of our friend Lisa from this site. She had a lump in her breast and it turned out to be benign. I am hoping the same for you. It’s just the waiting and worrying that is the worst. You made me bust out crying when I read your message to Dr. Sonnenday. You are such a sweet, caring person. I’m sure you were such a wonderful nurse. It’s great to see you post on here again. I was getting a little worried about you, but I figured you probably needed a break. This site can get a little heavy at times. I wish you nothing but the best, Susie. Take care and God bless you.

SpectatorDear Erin,
I am so sorry to hear your news. I have been praying so hard that this procedure would work for your Dad. My Lauren is going to have the same procedure probably next month. Her doctors said it has a 50% success rate. I’m sorry your Dad was not on the successful side. Maybe the chemo will help. Everyone is different and responds to different treatments. Lauren chooses not to know her stage or prognosis, so I will honor her wishes and not ask. I really don’t see what it would help to know anyway. If it was bad, then we would be wondering when she would be leaving us all the time. We want to live life to the fullest every day. That is just our way of thinking. If you want to know, and think it would help you, then ask. As for pain, Lauren takes long acting Morphine twice a day and has fast acting Morphine for breakthrough pain. It works great for her. We upped her dose once from 15mg. to 30mg. and she couldn’t handle it. It made her way too high feeling. So we know it is strong stuff. If I am not mistaken, a stronger drug in the percoset family is Oxycontin. Maybe you could ask about that since your Dad does ok with percoset. I am really heartbroken by your news. I know you all had such hope for the Theraspheres. I will continue to pray that your Dad finds a treatment that works for him. Please don’t give up hope.

SpectatorSue,
Yay and double Yay!!!! I am thrilled for your news about your scans. That is what we all pray for. I wish so bad that we could attend your fundraiser. Lauren and her boyfriend, Giovanni, are major bowlers. He even bought her an Italian flag bowling ball for Christmas. It would be so nice to be there. I wish you all the best. I’m sure it will be a huge success. Thanks so much for your generosity in helping us all fight the good fight against the dreaded CC. Let us know how it goes!!

SpectatorTiff,
That is great! I know you are at such a great place in MDA. But another opinion never hurts. For some reason, we have never felt compelled to look for a second opinion. We always felt that we had the best doctors that cared about Lauren and would do anything in their powers to help her. So I guess we had and still have complete trust and faith in the doctors that treat her. I think you are doing so well and I hope one day you can have surgery. Take care my sweet!

SpectatorAmy,
I am very sorry to hear this about your Mom. I hope she recovers quickly from her surgery. I hope you both continue to make memories and continue to live life to the fullest. With my daughter having cancer, I have learned to cherish every moment I have with her. Nobody knows for certain what the future holds, so treat the present like the word it is, a present. God bless you and your Mom.

SpectatorDina,
I am so sorry about your Mom’s surgery outcome. Take one day at a time and try to stay positive. Of course it was shocking for you to hear that your Mom was inoperable. That is because you had hope for the best. Please don’t give up hope. Miracles happen every day. Chemo has really helped my daughter feel so much better. I think you will feel better once you have a diagnosis and a game plan. We are all here to help. Take care and God bless.

SpectatorDear Shlamoney,
My daughter, Lauren, is the one with Cholangiocarcinoma. She just turned 26 in March. Hers is intrahepatic. She has one large tumor that started out the size of a canteloupe. It was17cm. x 14cm. It is now 12 x11 thanks to chemo. She has a few small lesions in the left part of her liver as well. She had pain in her upper right side, back pain, weight loss of 50 lbs., and got full after like 4 bites of food. She wasn’t diagnosed until around 5 months after her symptoms started. We thought she was having gall bladder problems at first. Then she was misdiagnosed and the doctor said she needed physical therapy for bad posture and having a large chest. Needless to say, we now have a new primary care physician. He ordered a CT scan after seeing her for 5 minutes. Please don’t give up hope. Lauren has had 15 rounds of chemo and is now being evaluated for radioembolization. There are so many treatments out there. Having a positive outlook is key. I wish doctors would not give timetables. Nobody but God knows when your time is up. Lauren chooses to live each day to the fullest and appreciates all that life has to offer. She does not dwell on the negative and never gives up hope that one day she and everyone else will be cured of this cancer. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have. Take care.
