Dear Michele-My heart goes out to you and yours. Your Tom was so lucky to have you there by his side. I hope your love will give you strength as surely he would want you to be taking care of yourself. Please stay in touch with us and accept our support for you in your loss.
PatricepderatMemberHi Lisa-I know at this point you probably feel you can’t muster the energy for more fight but fight as much as you can. I keep thinking of that women on the news lately whom “they” told her tumor was inoperable and some doctor pushed forward and in a very long surgery removed all of her organs, got the tumor, and then put all her organs back in and they showed her on TV going home from the hospital. Thinking of you and hoping for an outcome that is best for you. Patrice
pderatMemberKris-do you have any other symptoms? How is your appetite? Brown urine? Night sweats? the order of the symptoms is not as important as the fact that you have symptoms. Not to say you should panic, but you should follow up with your doctor.
pderatMemberTanoland-my husband was also seen at Mayo and sent home to have chemo at the local cancer center. That was a little over a year ago. He had treatment locally and when that was not working (but they were continuing the same drugs anyway) and now he is being treated at the Cancer Treatment Center of America. If your sister has a ppo insurance we highly recommend CTCA as their hopeful philosophy work with many modalities to add to longevity and comfort and in many cases a cure. While we have no false hope, we do have hope. Patrice
pderatMemberGreat to hear your news Jeff. Must have been that hula dance you did that shook things up!! Our best to you both. Now reign in that new spot and carry on.
Patrice & DavepderatMemberWe are all in this bucket together and as bad as it is I am so glad to have all of you to talk things over with…vent….whatever you call it so that I don’t get mean with Dave when he is being stubborn or when I feel as if I am just going to scream if I have to do one more thing by myself. It has been a year since Dave’s diagnosis but he has been sick for about 1.5 years and I too feel as though I have aged many years. Hang in there everybody….what other choice do we have. I am mostly thankful that I am able to do what I do to help Dave.
Patrice
pderatMemberHey Jeff- Would love to see the “King” picture. Maybe we should have a once a year update on photos. Welcome home and good luck with the upcoming treatments. I guess you had your CC anniversary and your wedding anniversary while away, so hugs to you for both!
PatricepderatMemberTerrific news Kris! Hold on to that joy for all it’s worth. We are soooooo happy for you.
Patrice and Dave
pderatMemberMichelle-my heart goes to you and family. There are many days I feel Dave slipping away from me and I don’t know if I will have the courage to deal with it. Please stay with us hear and let support you in whatever way we can.
PatricepderatMemberDear Shannon amd Wes-heartfelt condolences to you and your family. I so hope you are right that we will conquer this disease soon.
Patrice
pderatMemberAlice-I second Jeff’s opinion. You need to talking to the doctors before April and get options for treatment. Sometimes you have to be a pushy patient advocate to get care. It shouldn’t be that way but we have found that to be true in every step of this horrible journey.
PatricepderatMemberSoak up some of that hot sand therapy for all of us Jeff. Have a great time and happy anniversary. We will miss your presence here on the board.
PatricepderatMemberKathy-I’m sure you must know how much it meant to Pat that you stuck by her to the end. May she rest in peace and I hope you find warmth in the memory of the times you shared.
PatricepderatMemberProsure worked for Dave when he lost 40 lbs. He mixed it with iced coffee. You can buy it on Amazon.com. Hope this helps-Patrice
pderatMemberI have not heard of a whipple being used for CC. That is usually used for cancer of the pancreas. I think if you search “whipple” on this site there was a link once to the actual surgery that you can watch. I think I would get a second opinion if I were you.
