    Chrissy,

I’m very sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. It sounds like you took really great care of her.

    Take care,

I was going to suggest desitin too. Maybe have her use baby wipes after using the bathroom?

I’m glad it is getting less frequent. I know she was on stool softeners before, so make sure you hold those for a while.

I hope she feels better. Maybe have her eat some yogurt or talk to your Dr about probiotics.

PS, I read your Caring Bridge update every week and I always look forward to reading it and hearing how Lauren is.
PPS Can you come cook for me sometime? :)

    Take care,

    Susie

I have never heard of a husband and wife having CC. I asked my oncologist and my surgeon about risk factors, why I had it etc. they couldn’t give me a lot of answers, just said it is on the rise and they don’t really know why.
I wish you the best and hope it is in the early stage as well. Please let us know how the resection goes and best of luck.

    Best wishes,

    Susie

    Eli,

I am obviously not an expert, but from my nursing days, lots of people seem to tolerate reglan just fine. It seems more people have an issue with compazine. But, everyone is different, so who knows. I just hope you guys find something to control the nausea without all the side effects. Glad to hear Marina is feeling better this time. Keep us posted.

    Best wishes,

    Susie

Good luck and have a safe trip! I hope Lauren is able to get chemo.
I read your Caring Bridge updates all the time. I’m glad Lauren’s mood is improving off the steroids. Those steroids can be nasty. Dirty buggers kept me up all night the first time I had them.
I will be praying for a good scan report! I hope one day we can be cheering for Lauren before her surgery.

    Take care,

    Grover,

The pictures on your blog are hysterical!! Prior to my resection, I joked with my sister I would be running out of pre-op holding with my rear end hanging out of my hospital gown and she better drag me back in. So, I know the feeling of being afraid of the surgery. I must say though, I have had a resection, chemo, radiation and more chemo and the resection was probably the easiest. It was not nearly as painful as I thought it would be. I had a PCA for 2 days and then didn’t need anything for pain after that. But, everyone is different, so if you need it, take it. Now is not the time to be a hero.
Make sure you do your coughing and deep breathing and walk. Marion is right about using the pillow when coughing. It will help a lot.
I am so very happy for you and again wish you the best. I look forward to your post resection updates.

    Eli,

I’m sorry to hear it was tough on her. I think you are right to have her drink a lot of water. Does she get zofran before chemo? Zofran can cause headaches, so ask your Dr if she can have ibuprofen or something for the headache. My oncologist, for me, prefers ibuprofen over Tylenol, but I know many aren’t supposed to take it, so double check. Also a caffeinated drink can help with headaches too sometimes.
I am the proud owner of a corn bag. It is a heating pad type of thing that is filled with corn. You heat it up in the microwave. It helps with generally aches/pains and coldness. I use it a lot for bone pain associated with neupogen. Keep an eye on her labs. She my be more tired because her hemoglobin is dropping. Mine went down to 7 something this past chemo session and I definitely felt weaker when that happened.
Other than that, sometimes I like hot tea or a hot bath when I feel like crap. It’s not a cure for anything by any means, but sometimes the little things can help.
    Hang in there.

    Lisa,

I’m so glad it’s not breast cancer or mets from the liver. Hopefully is just an abnormal lymph node. I’m sorry you have to go through more procedures and worst of all play the waiting game. I hate the waiting game. Best wishes and I will continue to pray for you.

I had chemo radiation and had a lot of nausea. I was on multiple medications for nausea and none of them helped. I needed a proton pump inhibitor for reflux and felt soooo much better after starting it I wish I would have went on it sooner. I was on protonix.

    Good luck!

    Eli,

Do you know if that test was covered by insurance or how much it was?
