I eat a lot of smoothies and they are a good way to get calories and protein.

    Best wishes,

I had 6 cyles of gem cis. 3 cycles then radiation then 3 more cycles. It dropped my white and red cells. I needed to be on neupogen and received a blood transfusion. I lost some hair but not all.
I did not have any nausea or GI side effects. Hope this helps and best of luck with your treatment.

    Marion,

I must have missed that your daughter had Hodgkin’s. I’m very sorry to hear that but wishing you both the best. Glad to hear she is done with treatment.

And, yes, the Vitamix is a pricey investment, but man do I love it.

Thanks for the never ending support.

    Betsy,

I had intra hepatic cc and had a resection 2 1/2 years ago. I got my resection at UPMC followed by chemo and radiation at OHSU.
I met Paula before. We sat next to each other about 2 years ago in the infusion room. She was getting radiation and was at the infusion room for fluids. She is a nice lady and I’m so sorry to hear she is having such a difficult time. She posted on this site a few times. I knew she was stage IV and getting palliative treatment at the time I met her. I kind of assumed she had passed by now. I’m so sorry to hear about her current condition.

    Take care,

    Susie

Hi. I am almost 34 and was diagnosed at 31. I had a resection, chemo and radiation. I do not have any children. I discussed pregnancy with my oncologist and she advised me to wait 2yrs after chemo radiation was completed, which is on November of this year. I have a ct scan at the end of the month, so will see how it goes.
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9137654
Is the only info I’ve found about pregnancy after cholangiocarcinoma.
It is a very scary decision. If I remain cancer free, I’m not sure how I will proceed yet.
    Congratulations on being cancer free!

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. It is such a terrible disease. I’m glad to hear he was well until the last two weeks.
I am 33 now and has diagnosed at 31. I was fortunate enough to have a resection at that time.
You asked previously how people got diagnosed. I present to the ER with abdominal pain after eating pizza. Assumed it was my gall bladder it was not. I had a liver mass which was eventually removed and found to be CC. I had normal liver enzymes and my Ca 19-9 was 2 points above normal at the time of diagnosis.
So, now you had a resection? I thought Intraductal carcinoma was breast cancer? Either way, I wish you the best with your recovery. The liver resection was not as bad as I thought it would be, so I hope it is not too tough on you either. 3 months off work is great. You will be feeling so much better by then.

    Take care,

    Susie

    Tiff,

I’m glad to hear you are home and things are going well from the transplant perspective.
I think dealing with people is harder than dealing with cancer sometimes.
I’m sure we can all relate to and have our own experiences with people just acting totally different than how we anticipated them to when we are going through the most stressful time in our lives. I have had friends totally ditch me, some people who are overly curious about my situation but don’t really care about me and some people who were very supportive initially but dwindle off as time goes on. It hurts but I have basically stopped trying to figure these people out. I have a select few who truly care about me and those are the ones I turn to. It doesn’t always work, but I try to not focus on what I don’t have and focus on what I do have. Being active in my church has really helped me.
I would let your Dr’s know. I think often depression can not only be a side effect of the surgery you had but depression is a known side effect of many anti-rejection meds, so I’d talk to your transplant team or oncologist soon.
Hang in there! You have been through so much.

Pam, great to see you on here. I think of you often.

    Take care,

    Susie
