Sending lots and lots of good juju for a smooth surgery, recovery and spectacular outcome. Good riddance to that CC girl!

SpectatorI would add that you don’t have to wait till the next scheduled visit. Call and they’ll send someone out to eval and then get the order from dr by phone for drainage of necessary.

SpectatorThanks, Marion!

SpectatorThanks, Jason!
This is easy to read/follow. I should add that Percy spoke to Dr Gores at our booth and one of the things that came up was the fact that he doesn’t use PET scans after certain treatments. Said he preferred MRI.
Percy could explain it better but I gathered that he said “Some treatments cause chronic inflammation in an area where a tumor may be dead but which would read as a “false positive” on a PET scan.

SpectatorComescrap,
So sorry you Dad is going through multiple health issues. CC is not easy to diagnose and you’re right, treatment can’t be recommended by a dr without a diagnosis. Breathe deeply and ask the DR what the next step us in getting a diagnosis. Took a while for my sis (and 2 biopsies) and still they don’t know if its CC or a mixed type of CC with hepatocellular carcinoma. Time it takes to have tests and results seemed frustratingly slow in the beginning of this journey but it gets easier once you know what you’re dealing with and what the plan is. Also, many on this site get multiple opinions from GI oncology docs and GI surgeons. Best to you and your Dad.willow
SpectatorYes, Porter, makes perfect sense.

SpectatorMelinda,
How exciting this is! Thank you for explaining the process. I am so impressed with your courage and willingness to be one only the pioneers of this kind of very exciting and promising treatment. I definitely will check out your caringbridge. All the best as you continue to heal! Ski on, girl!January 14, 2014 at 3:58 am in reply to: Conference Wednesday, January 15, 2014 and GI ASCO, San Francisco #78696willow

SpectatorLou,
Your feelings that she will be released if this earthly suffering when she passes are no selfish. I prayed that agod not let my Dad continue on when he was suffering both physically and mentally so much. I did feel conflicted but that’s normal. Bless you and your mom.January 13, 2014 at 2:04 pm in reply to: possible skin metastasis from needle tract seeding (from biopsy) #78195willow
SpectatorThank you, Clare.

SpectatorThat’s great that you have a local resource to gain inside knowledge from. You’ve gone through childbirth twice so you’re probably tougher than you think
I admit I’m nervous tonight too for my sis as she has a scan tomorrow. Got to go to sleep…
Take carewillow
SpectatorLisa Craine.. Not “ileana”! Just noticed typo

SpectatorPorter,
Venting is natural and this is a good place to do it as so many have been through the resection and understand. You have a right to feel all those emotions. Its understandable to be nervous about a big surgery. Hopefully you can be reassured. I hope someone who has been through surgery can pipe in to reassure you. Iliana Craine is usually happy to share her experience and I think she’s had two resections. Your Dr at PREOP may also help ease your jitters. Maybe even ask for anti anxiety meds if need be. Hang in there! We are rooting for you. -
