Suzanne Kamel
In March 2021, the occupational therapy department at MedStarNRH lost an amazing member of its team. Suzanne Kamel was a senior OT that brought her very best to work every day. After working at MedStarNRH for 13 years, Suzanne was a cherished mentor and friend to her colleagues. She was valued by all of the therapy departments and always prioritized patient care by tirelessly working to improve the patient experience. As she grew in her career, she branched her specialties and kindness not only to patients, but to integral committees and organizations as well.
The Amputee Steering Group and the Safety Coach Committee were two of many committees that Suzanne helped flourish. Not only was Suzanne knowledgeable and respected, she also enjoyed playing the occasional practical joke on her colleagues, leaving spiders and small, toy mice in computers. Suzanne’s spirit and infectious laugh brightened the staff room and followed her wherever she went.
We will miss Suzanne and her spirit. In honor of the impact she made on our lives, we are initiating a fundraising campaign for the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation in her name.
We are also hosting a virtual 5k (run, walk, wheel, bike) in her honor. We ask that you please consider donating to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation in Suzanne’s name through this page to participate.
We are encouraging people to participate in the 5k throughout the month of April, as it is Occupational Therapy month. Please wear red and use the hashtag #RanforSuzanne if posting on social media.
If you wish to donate by phone, please call (888) 936-6731 and speak with Laurie Kikel. If you wish to donate by mail, send check to:
