De's 0.9 Mile Marathon Celebrates Community

On Saturday, June 1st, 2024,  the streets of Baltimore, Maryland, came alive with celebration and remembrance as the second annual “De’s 0.9 Mile Marathon” block party was hosted in memory of Denese “De” Waldman. Organized by her husband, Scott Waldman, the event was a heartwarming tribute to De’s life and her enduring spirit.

Attendees enjoyed delicious food, danced to music provided by a live DJ, and participated in a silent auction that offered an impressive variety of items and experiences. Highlights of the auction included stays at the Graduate Hotel in Annapolis, accommodations in Ocean City, Maryland, and Baltimore Ravens tickets.

Friends and family traveled across the country to honor De’s memory, creating a vibrant atmosphere of love and community. The event successfully raised over $21,000, with all proceeds benefiting the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (CCF). These funds will support vital research and patient services, continuing the fight against this challenging disease.

Scott Waldman expressed his gratitude, stating, “I know De would want to help others, and it is so meaningful that friends and family from every stage of our lives come together to remember her and support other patients and their families.”

The success of De’s 0.9 Mile Marathon block party is a testament to the power of community and the lasting impact of De Waldman’s legacy. Through the dedication and generosity of those who knew and loved her, De’s spirit inspires and makes a difference in the lives of cholangiocarcinoma patients and their families. For more information on supporting this event, please visit here.
