Robert “Bob” Catherwood, 69, of Somerset, N.J., passed away on Monday, Oct. 17, 2016.

Visitation is Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Plinton Curry Funeral Home, Somerset, with services Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthias in Somerset. Please log on to www.plintoncurry.com to sign Bob’s guest book.

Bob was born Jan. 12, 1947, son of the late Germaine and Neely Catherwood and brother of the late Christina Bianco. He was happily married to his wife, Janet Catherwood, for 47 years. He is also survived by three daughters, Theresa Benvenuto (John), Renee Mazzola, and Jana Grippo (Steve). His pride and joy were his five grandchildren, Justina, Nicholas, Andrew, Isabella and Stephen.

Bob was a 100 percent disabled veteran who served in the Air Force. He was a retired postal overhaul technician.

Born in Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn, Bob raised his family in Great Kills for 25 years before moving to a retirement community in Somerset. He was a die-hard fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Mets. He loved his family, friends, coaching his girls’ softball team and cheering his grandchildren on from the sidelines. He fought a good fight to the end.
