Journey of Hope: Day 4

This morning Linda and I had the opportunity to meet in the Vancouver, WA area, with one of my ex-colleagues, his wife, and daughter, Sara. Two years ago, Sara was a recipient of the Sarah Fleischer Bennett memorial scholarship. This scholarship is offered annually by my previous employer, The Promotion In Motion Companies, Inc. It was great to meet her and see how she is progressing in her career as a fashion designer.
From there, we drove to Hope-Fox Island, WA for our first visit to a town named Hope. The few people we spoke with there, were very nice, however, they didn’t realize maps indicate where they were was named Hope. I believe this presents a branding opportunity for the local businesses! We did speak with them about the journey and give them a variety of swag materials. After they wished us well, we headed to the Seattle area, in preparation for a visit tomorrow morning at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t include comments I received from Lisa Layton after our visit last evening. She wrote that our Sarah is now an ambassador as her legacy lives on through her family, friends, along with the cholangiocarcinoma network. Instead of her signature line “Just keep swimming,” (Finding Nemo), it is now “Just keep driving.”
