Journey of Hope: Day 6
Home / JoH Blog / [wpbb post:title]
I’d like to begin by sending a big thank you to those who have donated to The Journey of Hope! To date, 56 donors have contributed over $16,100 for research, towards our goal of $30,000. All involved are extremely grateful for your generosity!
We saw a lot of gorgeous scenery today, including Sandpoint and Hope, ID, as well as East Hope, and believe it or not, an area known as Beyond Hope! The beauty continued into MT. with diverse scenery and weather conditions along MT Route 200 and I-90 eastbound before the pouring rain started in Anaconda, MT.
Our first official stop was in Hope, ID. We introduced ourselves to several people outside the Hope Post Office. They were kind enough to listen to the background of the JoH and accept the swag we offered. They also shared what living in a town named Hope meant to them. One gentleman said “relaxing,” another person said, “it’s like living in heaven on earth”. They suggested that we stop by the Hope community center; that the people there would love it…so we did! When we arrived I unknowingly barged into a socially distanced meditation class and quickly made my exit!
Also, going through Butte, MT there is a 90ft statute called the Lady of the Rockies, that sits along the top of the Continental Divide. We could see her through the clouds and rain…inspiring! Soon after I blew right past the sign on I-90 that marks the Continental Divide at 6,393ft. It’s quite impressive! I considered taking the next exit to reverse my route in order to take the photo on a second drive-by. I quickly realized that I didn’t have to do that as I’ll pass another portion of the Continental Divide on my westward journey next month!
Tomorrow we will have the pleasure of visiting with Melinda Bacchini, a Warrior, and Kris Darby Volland. a former caregiver. If all goes to plan, we’ll finish the day in Dickinson, ND.
Give a little whistle!
