Jeffrey Baker

Jeffrey Dennis Baker passed away on February 20, 2022, after a three-year battle with Cholangiocarcinoma.   He was surrounded by his family as he went peacefully to be with his Lord Jesus Christ.  Jeff was born on May 12, 1973, in Belleville, IL.

Jeff’s first battle with cancer occurred in 1987 when he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoblastic Lymphoma.  At that time he had an autologous bone marrow transplant.  Thirty-two years later he was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma and treated at Stanford, M.  D.  Anderson in Houston; and John Muir Hospital.

Married for almost 10 years, he is survived by his wife, Melissa Baker of Brentwood and his daughter, Savannah.  Also surviving him are his parents, Dennis and Janis Baker of Tracy, CA; his sister, Jennifer (Baker) Taylor of Manteca; 2 nephews, Jack and Sam Taylor of Manteca; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jeff lived in California since 1984, graduating from San Clemente High School in 1991.  He attended Saddleback College prior to moving to Fresno where he graduated from Fresno State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety.   In 2008 he moved to Tracy to become the 7th grade science teacher at Monte Vista Middle School.  While there he earned his Master’s degree in Education.

An open Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, March 9, at 3:30 p.m. at Fry’s Memorial Chapel.  Then on May 22 a Celebration of Life will be held at Brownstone Gardens, Brentwood, also open to all friends.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Jeff’s name to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation at www.cholangiocarcinoma.org.
