Rare Cancer Day

Hearing from Patients

On Rare Cancer Day – September 30, we recognize the nearly 10,000 people who are diagnosed each year with cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a rare cancer that forms in the bile ducts – a network of thin tubes that connect the liver, gallbladder and small intestine. The ducts carry digestive fluid, known as bile, which helps the body break down fats. The disease is difficult to diagnose because of its non-specific symptoms and is often diagnosed late when the prognosis is poor. The goal of Rare Cancer Day is to shine a light on rare cancers, like CCA, and the issues people living with them face to raise awareness and impact early diagnosis.

THE ChOLLECTIVE is an Incyte-developed initiative that brings to life the stories of patients, caregivers and healthcare providers living with and managing CCA. Learn more from Kathy, Karla and Phil, three individuals who understand the challenges and fortitude that can come with a CCA diagnosis.
