hi all,
im sitting home today listening to my old 45 records and thinking back to when times seemed to be easier and trying to take the day off from worry and stress
the music brings back many memories of times when you could walk up to the corner drug store and have a malt or a ice cream soda, take a ride on your chopper and actually look up and see stars and not just the dark of night.
there are many, many more memories but i wont bore you with them, i will just let the music take me to them…

my wife has had 6 rounds of gemzar and she did quite well, only complaining of fatigue and a little hair thinning. This treatment works for some and for others it does not.everyone is differant. While it kept the tumor in check it did not shrink it. But keeping it in check I think is a win situation. She had the sir-spheres treatment in Feb. and we are still waiting for results, because it takes 8-12 weeksbefore they can take a scan. Everything I read and hear says that this is an effective treatment… we have our fingers crossed and faith in the LORD. Its a step by step procedure, everything has to be just so before you can be consider a candidate for it, and i hope that you can have it . Keep questioning your doctor about it, and seek other doctors advice about what treatment is right for you. Because what i learned from this experience is some doctors are willing to do what other doctors will not. sorry about your loss, we here know to well what you are going though, i to want to scream and rant, and do , sometimes it helps and sometimes it does not. there is not much i can say except that your MOM will be with always..you will keep her with you in your heart and mind and one day we will all be together again…….ronSAFELY HOME

Oh, the joy to see you come!assuming that the company has a plan for short term disability and than ltd, then i think yes….after short term dis. which should be 26 weeks he will be put on ltd….and one of the prerequisites is that he must file for ss disability…if he is approved for s.s.d. he will have to pay back what he recieved when he was on short term dis….his s.s.d benefit, if approved with be what ever he was entitled to at his retirement age…if he is recieving short term dis. now inquire about the tax situation…it is taxable for it is considered third party income….good luck ron
thank you marion, my inclinations are the same and i hope and pray they are right.. i will be on pins and needles until monday when i see the doctor.. we still have another 2-3 weeks before they take the scan, the waiting is really taking its toll on me.. this site and the people on it are so helpful and wonderful.. i wish i could meet you all and take us all out for a good dinner and stiff drink.. keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers…ron

each day you wake to see a loved one is a gift that we all should cherish and hold dearly, very dearly. its a time to hold all of your moments together a blessing.. no one knows for sure whats to be..whose to say us(the caretakers, mom, wifes) are going to last longer than our loved ones who are ill…i know its hard to call a time like this a blessing and i know that it isnt but you must fight everyday and take what time we have dearly….because once these moments pass you can never bring them back, grieving is something will all will have to do someday, so hold on to today… my thoughts and prays….ronhi,
just a update on my wife lucille since she had the sir-spheres procedure on feb.5…she has been having her blood taken once a week for the past 5 weeks and all the tests have come back relatively the same….but i have noticed that her ca19-9 has gone from 26.2 on 2-16-09- 11.2 as of today… i have not been able to talk doctor, he had a emergency and will not be available until monday…and her cea is1.7… i am taking this as a sign that the sir-spheres treatment is working or at least thats what i am hoping…can someone shed some light on this for me…keeping everyone in my thoughts and prays …ron………never give up or take no for an answerhi daniela,

sorry to hear about mom,here is what my wifes oncologist said to try, but check with your doctor because everyone is differant…try a slice of ginger in your mouth during treatments, can be chewed if nausea starts or persists…or place one large piece according to her tastes in 6-8 ounces of diluted ,freshly squeezed grapefruit juice…blend and strain the ginger and drink with meals…it has immune augmenting properties as well as anti-nausea and anti-vomiting properties…i hope this helps and i wish the best for mom….ronhang in there, i know its hard …call the doctor and explain the situation to him and tell him you need a sooner appointment…BE INSISTENT…also try and give him a health drink like ENSURE..and im a believer in vitamin d a 1000 units aday..vitamin d helps activate the bodies natural defenses that fight infections…good luck and prays …..never give up and never take no for an answer……ron
