Julia,
You’re sounding really positive now! Good stuff! It’s not been bucketing down here either for a few days now, long may that continue! Glad to hear you say that your sister is full of life now and I like your living life one day at a time talk.
Best wishes
Gavin

gavinModeratorHello Lady Ria,
Welcome to the site, although I am sorry that you have to be here. I can relate to how you are feeling right now, my dad was diagnosed with CC last summer so I know what it’s like trying to get your head round all of this during what is a stressful time. This is a great place where you will get loads of help and support from people who have been and are going through what you are, so I hope you will stick around.
I’m afraid I can’t help you with your question on the risks about surgery as my dad was deemed inoperable, but I’m sure others will be along to help you with that. Like you, I am an only child as well so I know what you mean when you talk about having to be strong for your mum. My mum is also ill, has COPD and I am the carer for both of them. Once you get over the shock of all this then the fight will take over. It might not seem that way right now, but it will.
It sounds like you mum has a great positive attitude, and seems up for the fight and positivity will be a great help for you both. Finding out as much information as you can about CC will also help you so read and ask any and all questions you can think of here.
Take care and I wish you and your mum my best wishes.

gavinModeratorHi Zupton,
Welcome to the site, although I am sorry that you have to be here. As Kris said to you, we are indeed a friendly bunch and you will get loads of support and help here.
I will keep everything crossed for you and hope that the chemo will do it’s job.
Good luck and my best wishes to you and your family.

gavinModeratorHi HoustonMom,
Welcome to the site and thanks for sharing your story with us all. Since you’ve been reading the posts here for a while, I’m sure you will know that we are a friendly bunch and you will get lots of support and help here. I know the site has been a great help to me since my dad was diagnosed last year.
Thats good news on the CT scan in Sept and I’m hoping that the chemo works for you and does it’s job. Can’t offer any thoughts on chemo treatments as my dad never underwent that.
Good luck and my best wishes to you and your family.

gavinModeratorJulia,
Sorry to hear this news and yes you have the right to be angry. So shout and yell and let off steam and come out tomorrow fighting again.
As Lainey points out, now that you know the diagnosis then your sisters medical team can get to work with what the next step will be. Dont give up hope. As you say, this is not the end and tomorrow is another day.
Take care and my best wishes to you and your family.

gavinModeratorHi Ken,
Welcome to the site, although I am sorry that you have to be here. My dad has CC and was diagnosed last year. He was 64 when diagnosed.
No experiences to offer on surgery as my dad wasn’t a candidate for it. He had PDT as his treatment, but I understand that that is more common a treatment in Europe, we are in the UK, although I do remember someone here who’s mum was undergoing PDT somewhere in the US.
Best wishes and good luck to you and your family.

gavinModeratorMichelle,
Positive thoughts and my best wishes coming your way. I hope the lung biopsy goes well for your dad.

A belated welcome to the site from me, I’m also in the UK, Dundee. What a great word manky is, not heard that in years! And especially not with regard to the gall bladder!
My dad was diagnosed with CC last year and had the drain through the ribs and jauindice. He had a stent put in at the same time which helped relieve the jaundice and the itching from the jaundice! Big relief that was for him!
Just wanted to welcome you to the site. As Kris points out, this is a great group here and I hope you will get a lot out of coming here. You have a great sense of humour and I know that humour is definitely something that helped my dad a lot during the last 12 months.
All the best.
Gavin
gavinModeratorJulia,
Am keeping everything crossed for your sister tomorrow! I hope it all goes well and according to plan.
Loads of positive thoughts for your sister and my best wishes go to you all.

gavinModeratorHi Julia,
Just read your blog, good stuff! Glad to hear that you’re feeling more optomistic and that the website is helping you and also that the drain seems to be working for your sister.
Hopefully you will have good news to report soon.
Gavin
