Hi Jeff,
Sounds like you’re as prepared as you can be for the Taxotere. And, it’s a good reason not to mingle with the Holiday crowds.
Did you have indications from the last time that it was doing the job on the tumors?

glightfootMemberHi Steve F.
Welcome.
I’m sorry to hear that you have CC as well. When were you diagnosed? The radiation treatment with SIR spheres has been quite helpful to some of us. Is that the type that you’re considering?
G
glightfootMemberI’ve also worked with Trichloroethylene for about one year. That was 34 years ago, though.
G
glightfootMemberDear Jeff,
I’m sorry to hear about those pesky little ones on your spine. You’ll figure out what to do about them later. I’m glad that you can enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday with your family. I’ll do the same with mine. Thank-you for your poem and sharing your bold spirit.

glightfootMemberHi Tom,
In using Sir-spheres, the doctor does plug up the exits to some other places like the stomach and intestines. But for some reason, the amount that goes to the lungs has to be under a certain percentage as they are not able to plug those up.

glightfootMemberHi Nicole,
I’m in California and get the insurance through my employer. My cancer treatments are at UCSD — the John and Rebecca Moores Cancer Center. I didn’t do anything special to get the SIRT treatment. My oncologist recommended that I go see the interventional radiologist, which I did. And after pretreatments, I had the procedure.
I hope that you can may some headway with your insurance company.
G
glightfootMemberHi Nicole,
I had the SIRT treatment in June and it was covered by my HMO with Blue Cross of California.
G
glightfootMemberThanks Peter,
This looks very interesting.

glightfootMemberHi Kris,
We’re all in the same boat with you. We’re all scared at times and cry frequently.
If you can possibly do it, assume unreadable only means unreadable, heave a big sigh at how untogether those people are and just carry on with your life until you have your scan done properly.
Hugs,

glightfootMemberHi Jeff,
I’ve been having a slower recovery from my last chemo which was a week and a half ago. But my energy’s better now. I had a CT last week which showed stable tumors in the liver, peritoneum and a few lymph nodes. But they also showed a few mm size nodules in my lungs, which is new for me. I’m concern about them in that they may be metastases. But my oncologist doesn’t seem concern since they are so little. Since I live in the San Diego area, I wonder if it could be ash/ air pollution/wildfire related.
Jeff, are you feeling any pain in your bones that makes you concern about mets to them? Good luck with your X-ray on Wednesday. I’m sending some good energy your way.

Yes, I follow CA19-9. They were in the normal range before I took my break. During the break – after I felt that things are starting up again, they were around 100-150. Now they are around 50. I think that their direction is a indicator for me. With the scans, it’s hard to be sure about changes as they are subject to interpretation by different radiologist with different levels of experience.

I took a chemo break earlier this year. I wasn’t showing any activity on a PET scan and had no changes on an MRI — that’s what prompted taking a break. After a 2 month interval, I had some pains in the liver area and an MRI show some increases. Three and one-half months after , I had a SIR-sphere treatment. I finally started back on the same chemo (Gemcitabine and Carboplatin) four months after the initial break. It’s now been three and one-half months since I restarted chemo, and it’s been holding the tumors to the same size.
One of my worries was that the cancer would become resistant. But at the same time, our bodies need a break.
G
glightfootMemberMy thoughts are with you and your family.
