Thanks Marion. Luckily we have a direct number to Dr Tham at the VA and will be calling her every week to make sure that everything is in order.

Lucky You…. Marc is so worried about loosing his hair. I told him that I would be happy to get a Chemo Cut as well.

Unfortuantely the Dr was not in Friday for us to ask wihy the Gemcitabine would be eliminated. We will be calling her first thing Monday morning to ask about it. I was just wondering if anyone else that was getting this particular chemo has experienced that as well.

I do not think this is a time to be bitter, but a time to be hopeful. We have to remember that at one point in time people who had breast cancer didn

I am happy to report that Marc had his first Chemo treatment today. (That is a weird thing to be happy about, I know). He is fine and they started his anti-nausea meds (Emend) this morning before they started the Chemo.

Like I mentioned before they did the Gem/Cis injections. However, they told him that when he comes back next week that he may only need the Cisplatin Injection by itself. Is this normal?

Tonight he and I are going to take his Mom and my Mom out to dinner while he is still feeling good!

    OH

Thank you Kris. I am hoping the Chemo does not kick his ass to where he can still enjoy life.

I just sent in the self referral form for MD Anderson.

I think you are right Janet. Another reason I thought it was strange that they had scheduled the chemo only 15 minutes after a consult. But we are talking about the VA here. The DR almost sounded as if she thought Marc should not even go through chemo. But since she was so matter of fact you think she would have just come out and said it.

And Lainy, they did not start the chemo because like Janet said, it was just a Consult to discuss the Chemo. Marc is ready for the Chemo as his bilirubin levels are down to a 5 like they wanted. They are just concerned about the extra

I went back to this thread I found and realized that the IPT I was asking about was Insulin Potentiation Therapy. The guy who brought this up in this thread stopped posting in 2004 and has not responded to any of the posts since. Does anyone know anymore about this?
