Welcome, Raintree, to the best little club in the world with the most caring and brilliant people there are. So glad you came aboard. I think Cholangio carcinoma Takes a team of specialists. Oncologist, radiologist, GP and Gastro.
Definitely call his Oncologist or take him to ER. There is no reason for him to suffer or to wait another 2 weeks. Have you gotten your 2nd/3rd opinions? Do you mind telling us where you are and where he is being treated. Are his doctors VERY familiar with CC? We do not give up easily. Also if you need a question answered quickly go to the top of the page, where you will see a SEARCH button and just type in a word and information will come up. Please keep us posted, we care.

Hi Gavin…sorry to hear dad is grotty today. I know he didn’t have surgery and Teddy did but I tell you when T overdoses on the food department the next day he can feel like he has the flu all over. No temperature but achy, stomach ache, sleeps all day. He knows he is control of it but it doesn’t seem to matter. He is on a C Food diet. He C’s food and wants to eat it!!! When we go out to eat and I know he will really be upset by something fried, I give him my Lainy look and I get a look back that says leave me alone. So I do now. I have tried everything but nothing works. When you think of the long road ahead, the food really seems so unimportant, except that he suffers afterward.
Italian day sounds like a day Teddy would love. We are going out to our favorite Italian Restaurant tonight. The owner/chef is right from Naples. Although we like Sicilian better his food is excellent and he makes all his own bread and pasta. What is a cranachan?
We had 12 minutes of rain today and loved it. Hope dad feels better tomorrow.

Hi Patty and we do thank you. May the snowflake of conscience fall on your eyelash and see it’s way to telling us about the meeting.

Here she goes, Super Woman again, jumping in to a phone booth and changing in to her all powerful running suit to attend another conference, for which we do thank you. Sounds like an interesting meeting. The beautiful part of this one is that it may be cold and snowy, but in December its all beautiful in NYC!!! I hope you have some time to take it all in.

OUCH! Why would he take you off all pain meds? Don’t forget our number 1 rule…how about a 2nd opinion?
Thank you so much for the web sites on GIST. I will look them up this morning.
My ONC said the Gleevec has major side effects and is only helpful once the GIST returns, then it takes it down very fast but doesn’t take it away. The only thing to take it away is surgery. IF it returns in the liver or lungs they can do nothing. It is scary the way it mirrors with CC! Just blows my mind that a “couple” could both get strange rare cancers. The side effects of Gleevec are pretty bad and I felt, what do I do, as I have to take care of Teddy? I thought I would float for awhile. Sorry about your insurance problems, in that respect we have had no problem. They did just deny Teddy’s PET for December but I know the RADMAN will handle it again so not worried as yet. Take care.l

Uh OH! Been there, done that. Teddy had come to Phoenix to golf with the guys for 10 days and we were just engaged. I missed him so much, we were living in Milwaukee WI, I picked him up at the airport wrapped up in a full length raccoon coat. He gets in the car, I surprised him and he announces he needs to get a sandwich and was so tired he dropped me off then went home to his house. So much for that! I vowed next time to just use Saran Wrap when I answer the door. Maybe he would show up as the Man from Glad! Thank goodness we were too old to have lots of little baggies laying around. You an tell I am getting tired so will say goodnight and put out the garbage bag for collection tomorrow.

Wow, Louise, we had no idea. Sure hope you are on the way to a quick recovery. It sounds so much like the surgery I just had, almost identical. They call my cancer a Stromal or a Gist tumor. Is that what you had? I just had a feeling something was wrong. Sending you all kinds of good thoughts and hope you get out soon.

Welcome bjcarbaugh to the best little club in the world that no one wishes to have to join. You are already a survivor having won the 1st Marathon in February and now winning this one as well. You have a great attitude and attitude is a good part of the run. If you have questions, we have a lot of experienced “family” on this Board. It was very wise to go to Mayo MN for a second opinion as they are one of the very best. Wishing you continued success so that we can read that you won this Marathon also.

Hi Lisa and we are so glad you have such a great team behind you. It’s always good to know there is a plan and I love the phrase “retail therapy”. Your cheerleaders on the board here are yelling like crazy, I am sure you can hear us!

Barbara, with all that you have been through who would expect anything different. Several suggestions would be to talk to your doctor and see if he can’t give you something to help you over the hump. Or you can ask Dr. Giles by clicking on our research tab at the top of the page. Perhaps you can not babysit right now but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a big grand kid fix every so often. I know when I came home from surgery 5 weeks ago, my daughter came over with the 3 teenagers and it was wonderful. Nothing wrong with seeking a little help to get through this.

Kris, I think you are awesome! There are a ton of people who are perfectly healthy and are guilty of sitting around waiting. Look what you accomplish! Let’s reverse that and say that perhaps you don’t want that red coat bad enough. I hope I am just like you when I grow up!!!
