I wouldn’t expect any less from you, Sue! Great story. Perhaps if more people showed a little caring towards one another, it would be a kinder world, yes?

Hello, Sharon and welcome to the best little club in the world that no one wishes to have to join. So sorry about your mom’s journey and it sure brought back many memories. My husband, Teddy is a 4 year survivor of a Whipple Surgery. He is now going to be 77 this month. In the beginning when he had his ERCP the dye leaked on the Pancreas and literally destroyed it. He spent a week in the hospital (recouping from an aborted Whipple)and 2 more at home as the doctor had to cut the head of the pancreas and could not do that until it had healed. I know so well what you have been through. The doctors told him, after his successful Whipple that with the type he has they could not do chemo and that radiation probably would not help. The CC returned last year and was zapped with cyber knife. Now it has returned again and we see the Radiologist next Friday. I feel your mom seems to really know how she wants to proceed and sounds like a very strong lady. I am sure she is very proud and grateful to have you all as her children. Please keep us posted on her progress.

Hi Lisa! We are so sorry to hear that you were in the hospital. Get out the red sequined robe and those pink boxing gloves, step into the ring and announce, “hey, yo, tube, you WILL last until January, ya hear?!!!” Glad the stent is working and hope you are feeling mucho better.

Dearest Amy, everyone grieves in their own way. I truly believe that your mother is all around you and the day will come when you will feel her watching over you. I bet she guided you in the tulip planting. What a beautiful idea to write you letters. I have an idea for Maddy. She could make her very own scrapbook of her grandma. How wonderful that your mother acknowledged that she knew how you felt about her. Please just know that she really is not going to ever leave you.

    TO MADDY:

    Happy little angels
Layed down their harps one day,

Good morning ladies. Teddy’s is different yet. When his CA19 starts climbing I just know we are in trouble even though his Bili stays good. Sure enough we see his Radman the 23rd. When the doctor says they found a very small tumor but he still wants to chat with us, you know you are in trouble. So, we just have to hang in 1 more week. Stress? Who among us has stress?????
I am so thankful that we have aggressive doctors even though not much can be done for Teddy’s type of CC. Could it be Leroy’s son????

Hi Adam. When they did not biopsy because of not having the right machine did they talk about sending you to a place that had the proper machine? I would suggest you try to read up on some past posts on this site and honestly go with your gut feelings as they are usually right. Nothing wrong with a second opinion either.
Also I guess I would be thinking, IF I chose to have a biopsy, why are they waiting a month? Perhaps a good question to ask would be “have you treated CC before”. Please do not underestimate yourself and what you are thinking as you will be your dad’s best advocate.

Hi Betsy, well that is partially good news. Can they not tell what is doing the blocking by an MRI or a PET Scan. You are so right that the best Amusement Park in the world cannot hold a candle to our ride!

Thanks for the information, Kathleen. It sounds like your mom is with the right doctor but more than that how lucky she is to have such a loving daughter to journey with her on this rocky road. You have certainly had a full plate. It seems like your mom is doing quite well and lets hope she keeps on the path.
Stay positive but when things are over whelming or you feel stressed here is a little exercise I do. I get in the car, whip up the volumn on Mama Mia and sing like there is no tomorrow. Works wonders.

Hi Kathleen and welcome to the best little club in the world that no one wishes to have to join. My husband is a 4 year survivor of a Whipple surgery, CC was located in his bile duct valve right next to the pancreas. When they did the Whipple they also removed his gall bladder. To become a great advocate for your mom please read up on some of our past posts. Go to the search button and just type in gall bladder and I bet information will come up for your situation. After you familiarize yourself with CC you will find it easier to make a list of questions for the doctor. To be fore warned is to be fore armed. Did the doctor say why the gall bladder could not be removed? There is nothing wrong with getting a second opinion, it is done many times with a CC diagnosis. My best to your mom and please keep us posted. You have not come to the wrong place you found the right place and we are happy you found us.
