I posted this last week in reference to the doctor who said liver flukes is not a cause. I was just surfing and found this site:
PJB is the Principal Investigator of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases grant number 1UO1 AI065871, which deals with liver fluke

Oh, thank you all for your kind messages. I am so tired but I just knew they would be there when I got home and perk me up. The surgery was a success! The tube from the back and the drainage bag are GONE! But he did run a 104 fever again this afternoon so I am sure he cannot come home until that and the catheter are out. He did quite well. As usual he is weird! The nurses could not believe that he did not ache after such a fever and again today! He is feeling tired but ok. The urologist took some biopsies but is sure there is nothing else wrong other than the cancer crimping the ureter. Another day at the hospital tomorrow. Not sure yet what is causing the infection. Could be the stent that was in there. Again thank you all very much!!

Lisa, you have been fighting the worst monster of all very bravely and now you have another step to take. I think we do better being brave about ourselves as we don’t like to see our loved ones hurt! Take a deep breath and you can do it! Teddy lights a special candle every Sunday for the CC family so know you are definitely being prayed for as I am sure others are also doing the same.

My husband tried everything and nothing worked until we found Sarma at Walgreen’s. Also ice packs help.

Hi Jeff, so glad you are feeling better. I guess you might say now that the fluid is out you are just full of air????? :):) Always miss you when you are not around! I don’t blame you I would get away from the computer too and I am going to! Football all day…Teddy watches it…I go shopping! I hate shopping but I just like to walk around.

As usual you come up with another “winner”. If I may add to that…set up family events far down the road. Like last June, Teddy’s daughter set up a family reunion for Labor Day weekend and now another for over the Christmas Holidays. Something to talk about that involves family, is the best RX.

Thank you, I know Teddy spent a good amount of time in “rice paddies”! It was the early 50’s. Please keep me posted on this. Even though a large amount of women/men who were not in Asia are getting CC it does not mean the people that served over there did not contact a parasite! I guess when Teddy “jumped” in to Korea the army didn’t know he meant parachute and not parasite!!!

Hi Heather, I just asked yesterday under another post, where are you?” Teddy is not at the point Lee is and I don’t know what things would be like but I do know sometimes these guys lash out at us because they are angry that this is happening to them and that we have to watch it and they feel they have failed us. I know that Teddy can be not feeling good then his kids come to visit and he has strength that I do not see all the time. Or one of the guys will come over and they will watch football and he doesn’t stop talking and laughing. Honestly you are totally normal in your feelings. What about a talk involving your religious leader? How about giving him a project to do with Emilee like making a memory book or pictures etc. The only other things I can say is for you to let it all out no matter to whom, it is not healthy for you to hold all this back. SUre wish we could meet!!! Just feel free to scream at us all you want!

Lisa….baking soda update. I am now using it just because it makes my face feel better and my daughter who has 4 teens now put a box in each bathroom!
I think you started something here! Hope you are feeling good.

I am sorry to tell you this but bile duct cancer can return anytime. Teddy went cancer free from August 05 – April 08. That is quite a miracle and why I call him the Miracle Man. Before April, he saw his Oncologist every 3 months and every 6 months had an MRI. Every 3 months he had LAB work. He is with the Desert Oncologists (Dr. Manus) for ONC and for radiation/cyberknife he is with Dr. John Kresl. You want aggressive doctors around you for this monster. I think you would do well to go into past posts on this sight and to read up on Cancer web sites about cholangiocarcinoma to gain knowledge. Like I said we talk a lot as Teddy does not want any surprises and wants to know exactly what is happening. He has 4 kids I have 2 and the emails go out constantly to family and friends. Everyone is aware. I find that as caretaker it also helps me to “let it out”. You have every right and it is totally normal to be fearful. Again if you ever want to e mail or talk, you can e mail me from this site.

Dearest Joyce, we are truly saddened by Butch’s passing. Even though Passing to another joyful room, where he is happy and healthy! And you eased his journey from entrapment to peace. You sound like such a wonderful, loving person. Please hang in here with all of us as your advise and your
caring are needed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
