SpectatorHi Kay and welcome! We are also from Phoenix. My husband had a Whipple Surgery 3 years ago and is now 76 yrs old. Did your father have a Whipple?
Sounds like he is doing fine and that is good news. Everyone handles these things differently, we do a whole lot of talking as that is how we figure everything out. What is, what has to be. If you liek please feel free to e mail me.October 10, 2008 at 4:02 pm in reply to: Dad now under hospice care- a chronology of what we experience #23138lainy
SpectatorVery sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. How lucky he was to have you and your family ease this last journey. He has only left the room and remains in your hearts and memories forever. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

SpectatorOh, I am so sorry about Butch. You just made my day though by letting me know that you talk to him about the letters. And you brought to my attention that all the loved ones who are no longer with us due to this bully, also know what we are doing! I love the concept as I am a firm believer that they are all still with us. And I am fully expecting them to help us out from their end as well! Stay strong and know we think about you and Butch!

SpectatorHello and unfortunately welcome. I assume your CC is in the liver. My husband’s was in his bile duct valve and he had a Whipple surgery 3 years ago. The CC returned where his duodenum used to be. 2 top oncologists here (Phoenix) said they would ONLY recommend cyberknife. Teddy just finished 5 weeks of radiation as the Insurance company in their infinite wisdom would not ok the cyberknife without the radiation first. Oct 27th he gets a PET Scan and if there are no other hot spots at that time they will probably do the cyberknife in November. We are so excited about this and hope it goes forward as he does NOT want chemo. What is so strange is that for everyone who has this monster there are hundreds of different reactions. It would also be wonderful if we had 100 options of choice of treatment. You will get some very good advise on our board and we also invite you to sound off when you need to. Keep us posted.

SpectatorWelcome to the wonderful club that no one wants to join! Sounds like you are doing very well under the circumstances. I believe that you will find some good suggestions here along with very upbeat attitudes. My husband had it n the bile duct valve 3 years ago and it returned in April where his duodenum used to be. He had a Whipple surgery which re arranged his whole innerds. We are working on that spot now. He has had a lot of itching from radiation (and in the beginning when he jaundiced) so the radiologist recommended a cortizone cream (any kind) but that is now bothering him. In the past we used Sarma (Walgreen’s) and that worked good for bile itching. Stay strong and you are invited to sound off any time you feel the need!

SpectatorHi all travelers. I have been a travel consultant for 30 years and more and more people are now buying insurance just for air. Not sure how it works form another country but we have insurance here that covers pre medical conditions. If you have a non refundable ticket and get delayed in another country your change of air is covered also covers getting sick in another country. Not sure that is what you are talking about you can pull up one of the more popular ones, Travel Guard and see what the rules are.

SpectatorHi Terry and welcome to the best little club in the world that you never really wanted to join!!! Glad Jeff chimed in as he is one of our biggest helpers. He gives excellent advise as do many others but he is like our “mentor”. You have come to the right place!

SpectatorTeddy’s had been about 17, in February, then 37 in April and 70 in June. That is when they DX that the cancer had returned. We will find out Friday when he goes to the ONC what it is now. So, like Jeff said, everyone is different. I am beginning to see that this monster strike everyone is so many different ways. Truly what goes for one is different for another.

SpectatorNot sure about garlic. I can eat it by the ton and not feel a thing others say they can smell it coming out their pores. I looked up garlic on google and while there is a lot on it, I did not see any mention of acid.
lainy
SpectatorThat is absolutely dynomite!!! Just what we like to hear. Have a wonderful trip and so deserved.

SpectatorTeddy is Sicilian and I have a hint for spaghetti sauce! When making any red sauce for pasta…..add some baking soda….it takes out the acid from the tomatoes and adds a wonderful sweet taste to the sauce. You can all eat it once the acid it out!
