mariaSpectatorHi Kendra!!
So happy to hear your Donny got some good advice!
What I´ve learnt during my cancerjourney is that keeping your strength is CRUCIAL beating cancer!!I got my diagnosis April 2010, and the message was to get my affairs in order. I was 43 and in very good shape. I continued my running, and pretty rough training 5-6 days a week. I added yoga, and I only eat very healthy.
Did you read the book Anticancer by David Servan-Schreiber? It´s all there.So instead of being 6 ft under a year later I run a halfmarathon (Gothenburg) in 2.04.
This 2nd of June I completed my 3rd Stockholm Marathon in 4.27.
I´m on chemo again after a 6 months break, and my doctor now tells me I have to go on with my running etc, as he´s sure this is why I´m still here, and still healthy!!I work, I run and I live an almost normal life. Two years ago I had a tumor as big as my fist, and 10-15 smaller ones in my liver. Some are still there, but their days are counted!
Can I count on you guys for Stockholm Marathon in June 2013 ??
Impossible is nothing! (stolen from Adidas… )

mariaSpectatorPeggy, I’ m so sorry to hear!! I was lucky not having complications with embos till now, but as good as it can be, it also can go hard on the body. Really hoping things will turn!!!!!
SweetGreen, happy to hear !! Tell him to start EASY and SHORT ( sometimes men have dificulties with that…)
Hoping he also dicovers how much better one feels after, even on chemo! Training is magic on sideffects from chemo.
On treatment, the hardest part might be rising from the sofa and putting on the shoes. Once you start running… You just keep going!Thank you Pamela

mariaSpectatorThank you all so much !!!!
Mmking – I prefer a 20 mile run over chemo, no doubt Rest… well, I´m not so good at resting. Just a little 5 miles today in an easy pace (have to get the dog out!)
Randi – Wow, you´re a runner as well!! Love it! And that mantra Of course it is the training – everybody talks about the race, but training every week, in rain, in snow, in wind…AND on chemo, with anemia, thats the fight! This marathon (my third) I was happy all the way, as I did have it as a goal for a year. Most for just being able to participate!
SweetGreen – I have been running and training other things all the way through my 2 year long treatment. Three or four weeks without running. My doc is sure this is way I´m still healthy in spite of a advanced cc. He even says the treatment must allow me to train as it seems to be as important as the chemo. Isn´t it possible for your husband to train at all with treatment? Just a little to start with?
Biggest hugs to all of you!
MariamariaSpectatorHahaha Randi, I would say it´s a HECK of a treatment !!
Lainy, wow, LOVE it!!!! Thank you so mucjh for thinking of me !! Copying it right away to save and share it!!!! Biggest hug!!
//MariamariaSpectatorThank you all !!!
Randi; Most of the time I don´t need any mantra as I LOVE running. I run in beautiful surroundings, and it helps a lot. What i do is that I STRONGLY believe that running is curing me, and I FEEL how it is helping me to stay healthy. That´s enough for me to keep on, even when it´s harder.
Peggy; I´ve reacted very differently to the embolizations I´ve done. This one was the absolutely hardest one. They used small beads this time – maybe that was why. I had a lot of pain and fever for weeks. I started to feel “normal” a week ago.

mariaSpectatorWow!! Thank you so much for sharing your story!! Gives me, and I´m sure a lot of people, hope!!
Lots of good energy to you to keep up the fight for a good and healthy life
//MariamariaSpectatorWOW this is wonderful!! Hope!!!!!
mariaSpectatorTHANK YOU a thousand kisses to all of you for support and kind words!! Toghether we can achieve anything, with hope and love
mariaSpectatorPraying for Lauren. She can do it. No matter what those scans show.
mariaSpectatorThe reason why a lot of vegetables are more beneficial for health LIGHTLY cooked is that then it´s easier for the body to absorb it.
In “The cancer-fighting kitchen” it´s mentioned that mango is specially good against gallbladder-cancer. Maybe we can apply that to cc as well?
Found this on pubmed.http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=mango%20gallbladder
mariaSpectatorPeggy, I´ve had 5 chemoembolizations. The first ones did hurt a day or two afterwards, but the last one didn´t feel anything.
Anyway, they had a GREAT effect on my tumors. The big one showed no life in last scan (and has gone from 10×8 cm to 2×5 cm), only two small ones did have any circulation at all (15 small ones once upon a time)
/MariamariaSpectatorThat is WONDERFUL news!! Who needs operations with all this shrinkage?? Let´s shrink it to a small small raisin of old necrotic tissue! And change that old truth that inoperable is incurable.
mariaSpectatorOh Kris, that sounds so GOOOD! Here´s to hope! Kris the shrinking woman! Let´s shrink this cancer to the moon!
mariaSpectatorSo true Lainy, elite but no snobs
Yes Kris, February has been a great month indeed! My second month with vacation from chemo, and feel I so good! I do hope this can go on forever, but that´s maybe asking for too much. Will find out soon….
