ModeratorThanks Gavin. Mom had SIRT end of Feb and feeling great.Right now she’s sitting under an umbrella looking at the gulf of Mexico. It’s been a great week in Florida with lots of family along. I appreciate the slides.

ModeratorHi Owen,
Just wanted to say hello even though we all wish you didn’t have a need to join us. My Mom was diagnosed in October and this board has given so much information and support.
ps- love IN; my daughter is going to grad school in Bloomington- Mom can’t wait to see her get the PhD 3 years from May.
Take care,

ModeratorTom,
I only joined this board a few months back, so this is the first time I’ve read your post. However, I do want to add my happiness for how Ben is doing and also my thanks for sharing such a positive journey. Mom has been off chemo since end of Jan (had SIRT in Feb), but when needed, we’ll start again on the Gem/Cis combo. It’s encouraging to know that even going to the Gem alone has positive results.
And, I think moving is a valid excuse to get out of many things.
Well wishes for you and Ben,
Catherine

ModeratorDUKE, Gavin is just one of our angels here on earth who after caring for his mum, takes the time to find information to help others. I would be surprised if he sleeps.
Congratulations on the great scan. I was so glad to read and as always really enjoyed your posts.
Keep the good news coming.

ModeratorHi. I guess a follow on question if people are responding to crissie…anyone have Lynch Syndrome in the family? My uncle had it and now mom has cc. They say it is tied to colon cancer, but since Lynch and cc are rare, just wondering if there could be a tie. Thanks!

ModeratorDear Judith,
I am very sorry for your loss. I’ hope in time the memories of the past few good months and the years beforehand will bring you comfort. And, I appreciate that even in this time of loss, you were caring enough to share information which might help others with such grace. Thank you.
Take care,

ModeratorHi…when mom had surgery we were all there (4 kids) . Surgery was not successful in that they closed her back up rather than removing the tumor. Somehow hearing news via phone rather than being there wouldn’t have worked for me. Also we were warned a 10 percent risk of not making it through. We all wished her luck going in and were there for each other. But if one of the siblings couldn’t have been there, we would not have thought they loved mom any less. And mom would not gave wanted us to miss anything important to be there. We are fortunate that all live close by. It was the worst day of my life but I had my family. I guess one of the positives of this is that a close family has been brought even closer. No doubt that Mom knows how much we love her. I hope your Mom’s surgery goes smoothly.

ModeratorEric-
So happy for you and thank you for sharing! It gives hope to others who are newer to this forum. Would you mind letting me know if you are still on the Gem/Cis or did they modify the chemo?
Wishing you a long, long time of continued stability.

ModeratorMary,
I would second Carl’s suggestion. The steroids were the key to successful chemo for my mother; we were ready to call it quits after the first round (Gem/Cis). However, by giving the IV Emend during the treament, and also dexamethesone pills on the day of treatment and the following 3 days, she was able to go off all other nauseau drugs and tolerated the treatments well.

ModeratorHi, my mother had SIRT 5 weeks ago and follow up scan is tomorrow. It may be too soon to tell much, but will let you know. She was extremely fatigued for 3 weeks after treatment but feeling fine now.

ModeratorTina,
I am very sorry for your loss. When reading your introduction, one could tell that your Aunt had a very loving family supporting her. You and your children are in my thoughts and prayers.
