Narinder, Your dad has really done remarkable! When my husband lost weight we were able to get it back on and maintain it with whey protein shakes, made with whey powder (we used vanilla) , fresh fruit, frozen fruit, juice, and milk. You can get whey powder at the pharmacy.
How wonderful he has such great family support around him. I bet he sure enjoys those grandkids!
    Hugs. Nancy

Hi, My husband opted for palliative chemo and tolerated Gem/Cis well. He was 59 then turned 60 while he was on it. Doug went to a naturopath as well and took naturopathic support while on chemo. We believe this helped him tolerate the chemo well. We kept Doug’s weight on with whey protein shakes that I would make with whey powder, fresh fruit, frozen fruit (too make it cold), juice and milk. He loved them.
Doug was so nervous his first day of chemo, but he had a wonderful nurse whom he developed a great relation with and he looked forward to his visits with Cheryl. She truly was a blessing who helped him with his journey.
Best wished to you and your mom.

Dearest Phil, My sincere condolences on the passing of your dear husband. I am sorry he suffered in his final days (and you as well). This disease can be cruel. I hope you can take comfort in the fact he is no longer suffering.
You will know when you are ready to go back to work. I too have a wonderful work place and when I did return it was good for me (even though I can’t barely remember the first few months I was back). For me work is my only normal, for it is the place where I did not normally see my husband.
You have your beautiful young sons to look after and they will help with your healing and you with theirs, but don’t forget about yourself and take time for your own healing and exhaustion. It is a tough journey, one we did not want to take but one that is necessary to carry on. Sending love and hugs to you and the boys.

Hello Notdoneyet, Yes you are on the right site. Biliary tract adenocarcinoma is cholangiocarcinoma. I can understand your heartbreak when finding out this diagnosis. We have other young people on this site who are responding well to chemotherapy and other treatments. Many also pursue naturopathic support as well. There is lots to learn and choices to make. I am glad you are happy with the care he is receiving now. Sounds like he is responding well to his chemo. Keep the hope and let us know how your son is doing. We are a compassionate group here with all sorts of knowledge from different angles. Sending best wishes to you and your son. Nancy

Hi Bluebird, I am sorry to hear of your husband’s diagnosis and that they weren’t able to do surgery. I am not sure why they would think the upper right abdomen pain was unrelated because I am sure you will find it is a commom complaint for those with cc. Unfortunately this cancer does not have a lot of signs until it is advanced.
I haven’t heard of temsirolimus but have heard of capecitabine; and oxalipatin is one of the more commonly used drugs for cc. We have members on here having good success with chemo concoctions.
I understand the shock of learning a loved one has this disease especially when they seem so healthy. Sending lots of well wishes to you, your husband and son. Nancy

Dear Teresa, I remember these days vividly. Hold him, talk to him, sing to him, even if he is asleep. You will find strength you never knew you had for you are his wife, his best friend. May you both find peace. Love and hugs to you and Dennis.

Hi Simon, Sorry to read that Moira had to give up work. I know that it was a good release for her. Probably, the only time when cc was not occupying her mind and life.
I am hoping that she is not in any pain and the nausea, shivering, and swelling has dissipated. My only advice, enjoy each day together and find laughter in even the smallest things. Sending big hugs. Nancy
