SpectatorTiffany,
I would be very nervous too, but it sounds like this is a chance for a cure so I think it is such a blessing.
It is a big surgery and there will be some recovery involved, but you are young and healthy and I think you will do very well.
(I get so annoyed when people call me healthy considering I had cc)
But from a surgical perspective, you are very healthy with no comorbidites that would make transplant more risky.Take care. We are here for you.

SpectatorSo sorry to hear they couldn’t do the surgery. Keep us posted on your treatment plan. I think talking to someone is a great idea. It’s so stressful to deal with this disease.
take care,

SpectatorTiff,
That’s great! I used to be a liver transplant nurse, if you ever have any questions, but you should be assigned a transplant coordinator who will walk you through the process.
I don’t want to worry you, but did you get insurance approval for the transplant?Take care,
Susie

SpectatorRachael,
My mass was not removed laparoscopically. I was opened and was in the hospital 3 days. It was not a bad surgery at all. Nothing like the liver resection. I am 32, so bounce back quickly.
The reason mine was open was because I had radiation and the surgeon wasn’t sure if I had a lot of scar tissue that would permit a laparoscopic procedure. But the main reason was I had a small nodule on my omentum and I wanted to make sure he got a good look at that. The thing on my omentum was just scar tissue, my liver surgeon said this is common after liver surgery. (But cc spreads to the omentum, so again I was concerned)
I also had a pelvic wash which was negative for malignancy. If they don’t open you, it will probably be one night in the hospital, maybe even outpatient.
take care,
Susie

SpectatorRachael,
I don’t want to get your hopes up, but I will share my story with you. I had a liver resection May 2011. In August a small ovarian cyst was found and it continued to grow. It was non vascular, with solid and cystic components. I had it removed in June. It was benign. An endometrioma.
I was very scared.Take care,
Susie

SpectatorHi Adam,
It’s nice to meet you and hear your story. I am very similar to you. I had intrahepatic CC, diagnosed in March 2011. I had a left hepatectomy with gall bladder removal. Clean margins and negative lymph nodes. I had 3 cycles of adjuvant gem/cis, 6 wks of chemo radiation with xeloda and 3 more cycles of gem/cis. This all finished in February. My next scan is in October. My last scan was in June and was clean. I am 32. I have some numbness around my incision, I was told this can be expected by my surgeon.
Keep us posted on how you are doing!Take care,
Susie
