CCF Celebrates National Cancer Survivors Day
Let’s show the world what life after cancer looks like! On National Cancer Survivors Day®, the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation will join thousands of people in hundreds of communities throughout the world to celebrate life.
This special day is an opportunity for cancer survivors to connect with other survivors, celebrate milestones, and acknowledge the contributions of the families, friends, healthcare providers, and researchers who have supported them along the way. It is a day for cancer survivors to SOAR and show the world that life after a cancer diagnosis can be meaningful, fulfilling, and even inspiring.
Join us on the Foundation’s Facebook page on June 5th at 3:00 p.m. (EST) for a Survivors Soar webinar as we honor local survivors who are living with and beyond cancer. Twelve-year survivor, Melinda Bachini, hosts the virtual event with guests:
- Grace
- Tessa
- Dave Fleischer
- Betsy Graca
- Shishir Maithel
You’ll hear the stories of these individuals and learn five ways you can make a difference as a survivor in the cholangiocarcinoma community.
NCSD ToolkitWho is a cancer survivor?
CCF aligns with the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation’s definition of a survivor as anyone living with a history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life.
What can I do to celebrate survivorship?
Take a photo or video that depicts how you soar to support CCF’s theme, Survivors Soar, and share it with the Foundation by uploading it here before May 31st, 11:59 p.m. (EDT). You and your family can write messages of hope and gratitude on recyclable paper and fold it into an airplane and fly it off a high peak. Click here for some paper plane folding instructions.
You can also get creative and fly a kite, launch a balloon, or light a lantern. Anyone with an adventurous spirit may consider a long bike ride, flight in an indoor skydive center, or put a model airplane to together send it flying. The sky’s the limit!
Please submit videos and photos by May 31, 2022, at 11:59 p m (EDT) If you would like your video/photo to be included in the montage, please fill out a media release form. Once you have filled out your media release form, upload your video to our Dropbox.
What else can I do to spread the word?
Social media is a powerful resource to publicize National Cancer Survivor Day. Some example posts are provided in this Volunteer Toolkit [Link to PDF] that includes other helpful tips. Social networking also gives you an opportunity to fundraise for the recognition day. Watch this video on how to do a Facebook Fundraiser.
