    Hi there,

Welcome to the site. Sorry that you had to find us all here and sorry to hear what you are going through, but real glad that you’ve joined in with us all as you’ve come to the best place for support and help and i know you will get loads of each from everyone here. Thanks for letting us know what is happening to you right now.

Glad you were able to get the stent issue sorted out and that is something that you should keep an eye on. Stents can clogg up and stuff and if that happens then that needs to be looked into asap. Not much else I can add to what the others have said to you already but I just wanted to stop by and welcome you here.

I hope that you will keep coming back now and please know that we are here for you and will help as best as we can. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

    My best wishes to you,

    Gavin

    Hi Hiedi,

Just to add to what Catherine has given you and I would strongly recommend that you read this link –

    http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.3322/canjclin.40.1.51/pdf

Please be very careful about what you find on google etc regrading claims about this treatment or that treatment as there is a lot of what I would call bogus information out there.

I found this as well Hiedi – http://www.fda.gov/forconsumers/consumerupdates/ucm048383.htm

And further googling found lots of other legal documents that are out there should you wish to look for them yourself.

Really sorry that I don’t have anything more positive or better to say about this treatment. I so wish that I could help so more and please know that we are all here for you.

My best wishes to you and your father in law,

    Gavin

    Dear Sandy,

I am so very sorry indeed to hear of the passing of your beloved Dave, please accept my sincerest condolences. I wish I could help right now and I am glad to hear that Dave’s passing was peaceful. And you are right in that he did fight so hard and you both tried to do everything that you could to fight this.

Please know that we are all here for you and my thoughts are with you and your family right now.

    Hugs,

    Gavin

    Hi there,

Welcome to the site. I’m glad that you have joined us here but sorry that you had to find us, and I am very sorry that your first post had to be about the passing of your dear mother. Please accept my condolences. I lost my dad to this disease back in 2009 and I so know the pain that you feel right now as do so many others here on the site. Trust me when I say that that pain will ease but it will take time.

I hope that you will keep on coming back here as you are most welcome and are amongst people who so know what you have gone through and how you feel. We are here for you.

My best wishes to you and your family,

    Gavin

    Hi Lorraine,

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, have been away from the pc quite a bit these last few days, got a lot on here right now. This is a tough one and to be honest, my dad never had much experience with drains so I can’t really offer too much insight here. He had a drain in just after his diagnosis and that worked well for him but that was the only one he had. I do hope that others will be able to chime in and share some other personal experiences here. I know that Lainy is offline just now for a bit as she has just had surgery for something else and I don’t know when she will be back online.

I know that this is a tough choice for you and Donnie to make as to go with Glasgow or wait until Edinburgh app to see what they say. The Edinburgh app is a week tomorrow is it not? And do you think that Donnie will feel up to traveling then? If he is not up for it then perhaps it would be best to go with Glasgow with the liasing from Edinburgh? Just thiking out loud here. Also, if the consultant in Glasgow believes they have as much experience as Edinburgh in this procedure then again, maybe that is another reason to go with them and try this sooner rather than later?

I realise that all of this is so scary for you both and there are no easy answers I would say. But if it was me then I would prob go with Glasgow now as that would be quicker and I assume that they could get on with this this week? I wish I could offer more insight and help right now Lorraine. Please say hi to Donnie from us and tell him that we are asking after him and that loads of positive thoughts are coming from my side of the coast to yours.

My best to you and Donnie,

    Gavin
