    Hi,
I just finished 2 rounds of gem/cis with very mild side effects.
I get achy body on the night of chemo but nothing else so far. I, too worry about hair loss but it hasn’t effected me yet. I’m on 2wks on 1 wk off schdule.
I have no problem with eating and maintaing my weight. My nurse told me that nausea seems to be the most common problem. Hope she tolerates well.

they said to check in 3 months if I’m doing well with this, but I’m going to ask to get ct in 2 months. If it’s not doing anything in 2 months what’s the point keeping it going. I’m in charge of my treatment now. No more wait and see.

I had to go in 2 hours before my chemo appt for lab work.
Once I’m in 1 hour of saline, 1 hour of gem,1 hour of cis, last 1hour of saline again. What a long day!! So I asked to get my blood work done 1 day early from hospital close to my home and have them fax the result to my onc.
They prefer to have it done at same hospital where I’m getting chemo, but it’s just too much waiting around and I don’t have much patience for that. I have much better things to do then sit and wait,
    like doing load of laundry:-)

    @Eli
thanks for info on bed. I did asked for it on my first chemo. It was sweet. I slept like a baby whole day, but second chemo bed wasn’t avail so I was stuck with recliner. :-( so noisy too much going on!!!

For pain on my side they gave me hydromorphone but didn’t work that well, so they chagned to morphine sulfa. I hope this would let me get some sleep.

    Hi Joanna,
Sorry to meet you this way. I know how you feel, I’m 46 going on 47 with 2 young kids(10,12). If I could have 10 more years……

I was dx last oct and had resection nov. with clean margin and no nodes recomm no further treatment at the time. I asked many onc about chemo or radiation but most of them said no since there’s no data supports it. So I decided not do it. I got my regular 3 months ct and blood works. CT was clear but my ca19-9 was rising slowly and was a little concerned but again since nothing on CT they wanted to wait. Well my last CT (July) showed a recurrence and having pain on my right side where a new tumor is…
So long waited chemo finally started today. It was not as bad as I expected (knock on wood) hopefully this would get rid of stinking tumor.

Joanna, hoping for sucessful resection and hope to hear more good news.
Let’s do it together for our young ones :-)

    Thanks Lauren and Gavin.

I got my first chemo Gem/Cis today and so far I’m feeling good. A little achy body but nothing else. They gave me Hydromorphone for pain on my side and Compazine, Dexamethasone for nausea.
Thank you again for well wishes.

Kristina, heard from hospital with my genotype analysis and said that I wouldn’t be able to tolerate irinotecan. So no clinical trial for me. I’m going in next Monday to put port and starting gem/cis next Friday. What days is your mom getting her chemo there? Fridays are my chemo days, and my onc is Dr. Catenacci.

    Thank you everyone,
I spoke with my nurse care manager from insurance company and she’s going to address the issue to her manager. When a nurse from hospital called to insurance asked about peer to peer review, they said that’s not even an option. Seriously??? An advocate from hospital is going to be involve as well now I hope we’ll get some answer very soon. I’m schduled for port next Monday and hope to start on chemo no less than 2 weeks….
