Barbara……It won’t hurt to call the physician and get some clarification. Is there a possibility for your Dad’s ribs being bruised? Certainly, I would want to have an answer to this.
marionsModeratorAmy….thanks for sharing the good news. And, good wishes coming your way.
marionsModeratorMary Anne….I am sending tons of love to Joe, you, and your entire family.
Hugs
MarionmarionsModeratorMy heart goes out to all who are facing the the decline of their loved ones. It might be helpful if those of us who have traveled this road before to reach out by private e-mail to the members requesting assistance in this very personal matter. Gladly, I will share with anyone my experience. Please, feel free to e-mail me, anytime.
All my love,
MarionmarionsModeratorLisa…we had also been denied several drugs by Blue Cross/Shield. Before you want to speak to the insurance company I would see if a case worker can be assigned to you. What we had found out that once someone on the insurance side was working closely with me our odds increased significantly, in receiving special permissions for some of our requests. In our experience, once the oncologist had spoken to a physician at the insurance company then the decisions made were entered in to the computer and the case worker did not have the authority to overrule those decisions. It is worth a try.
marionsModeratorGreat update on Peter. He is walking the halls, looks much better and feels stronger, and he is in great spirits. He is drinking fluids (every hour) and is looking forward to some real food hopefully, very soon.
marionsModeratorTess…Such a relief to know for you Dad
marionsModeratorLainy….Your excitement is infectious and so well deserved for you, Teddy, and all of us who are witnessing another strike against this cancer. How much better can it be?
marionsModeratorAlthough, it has been your experience in your family for colon cancer being followed by CC it is time for your brother to be the exception. Sending tons of good wishes your way.
marionsModeratorthanks for the link. Would love to see it but, appears as if this only for the UK, at this time. Until the US can link in to this show I am pleased to hear that this cancer is “coming out”.
marionsModeratordeb…..what wonderful news and you are so very right it is the hope that keeps us going. Have a good nights sleep and thank you for giving me one, also.
Hugs
MarionmarionsModeratorHi Bella….and thanks for posting. My husband had also used Marinol while battling this cancer and, we were told as Barbara had mentioned, it could reduce nausea and increase appetite. In fact, my family had been in favour of using Marijuana in any form if it could show to be beneficial to him. I believe, anything that could reduce pain in patients should be considered. O.k. I admit to living in California and therefore, might likely be biased.

marionsModeratorHi Tess….you had plenty of great responses but I also wanted to welcome you. As Jeff had pointed out already your Dad’s pain can be managed. He may experience numerous side effects such as sleepyness, constipation, etc. however, this can be worked with, also. I don’t know whether you have read up on stool softeners but, that seems to be another important issue especially when pain med’s are given. You a wonderful advocate for your Dad and you are coming through for him when needed most.

Welcome and I would like to thank you for posting such important news. It had been mentioned before that the CC cell resembles that of breast cancer. Which other parameters did you have to fit in? Do you know what the other protocol consists of? How are you tolerating this treatment? But, most of all I am happy for you to have joined us. This is a great, helpful, and caring bunch and I am sure for many questions coming your way.
