micsylSpectatorHi there
Just wanted to welcome you to the board and thank you for sharing your dad’s journey with us. My dad, is facing something similar but things can get better when they find the blockage. My dad was also not able to keep food down, and getting thinner by the day. They also drained alot of stuff out of his stomach/intestine which was undigested food, once this was being done he felt alot better. They then found that there was a blockage in his small intestine/duodenum – they could do two things 1. stent the blockage so that food could pass through or bypass the blockage by connecting i think the stomach and bypassing the blockage. They were able to stent the blockage and my dad is doing alot better in that he can now eat again and has put on a few kilograms. He will never be has robust as he was but he is doing a little bit better. Please don’t give up hope – we all know how hard this is -my thoughts are with you.

micsylSpectatorHi Marion
Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly, am on my way to see dad now. Dad’s dr in Buenos Aires at the moment, left today, could not make contact. They took a blood culture and as of yesterday nothing had grown will check tonight in file. Been 3 days now? Dad in a lot of pain, is on antibiotics – am hoping to see someone who can tell me something tonight.
Thank you so much

November 12, 2009 at 12:15 pm in reply to: Passing on advice and warning from my psychologist #32947micsylSpectatorThank you so much for sharing this, Kris. Ever since my dad’s diagnosis, it is like I have been living on the edge, waiting for the worst to happen, almost existing with a feeling of dread. Instead of celebrating the fact that he is here now with me, I need to see past the CC and live in the now.
Thank you for this post, it really resonated with me.

micsylSpectatorThanks everyone. Dad is being discharged today, still with high levels, we see the DR again on tuesday. My father is so tired and again has lost alot of weight. They did another cholangiogram yesterday and could find no blockages, i can never get to see the DR for a one on one, dad did have a scan and they found no masses in the liver, i will ask about an MRI.
As for the 2nd opinion, the DR that we are with, is the one with the most experience in Cape Town, my father trusts him and will not see anybody else.
SOuth AFrica is way behind in terms of insight and knowledge of CC.
Thank you so much for the support. I do appreciate it.
lotsa love
Michelle
