“devastated”, bless your heart. My heart breaks when I see those in pain. I’ve always just been a “big ole’ softy”. My prayers are with you and your family. I am a firm believer that our lives on earth were never meant to be free of pain and suffering. Part of our earth experience is about learning what pain and suffering is all about and what we can learn from it. Do we push ahead and grow with these experiences? Do they make us stronger people? That is the purpose, then, when all is done, we will be better stronger people. It is so hard to see our loved ones struggling. Just keep your chin up and think of how strong you and your children are going to be from this. In a weird sort of way, consider it a life blessing. Eventually, many with cc will pass and be free of pain and reside in a much better place while others who loved them will remain and be so much the stronger.

Again, my prayers and thoughts are with you and you kids.

Thanks to all of you and your kind words. I do get to resume chemo tomorrow (thursday). woo-hoo, can’t wait. Now, if they could come up with a way that chemo would cause your mouth to have the taste of t-bone steak……….how great would that be?

    :0)

Fatemah, I have also experienced some pain in my arm related to receiving Gemzar. If it happens they wrap warm blankets around my arm and reduce the rate of flow of the Gemzar. (as someone has already noted). The nurse also said it helps to have the IV into as large a vein as possible. With the IV in the back of my hand I had quite a bit of pain. But, with the IV in a larger vein in the arm there was quite a bit less pain involved. “Slow the flow”. :0)

Dearest Eli, Sueayers, tflory, I wish to add my welcome to you all as well. This is a huge labor of love and we all have lots of it to share. tflory, I can relate to your husband. I contracted ulcerative colitis at age 19 and had my colon removed 20 yrs later. I only wish surgery were an option to me to remove my cancer. Right now, chemo is all I have to look forward too unless situations change inside of me. Eli, they always give steroids with my gem/cis regimen. By the way, I get to resume my chemo day after tomorrow following my month dealing with other health issues. I have been feeling so good this past week it was very hard to say, yes, lets start chemo again, but I know it has to be done.

Again, welcome folks, and please know that my prayers are with you and your families.

    Margaret and Mary,
May God fill your hearts with his love and ease your pain. My only wish is that my wife and I can say the same about each other.

Jason, a great day for you and your mom. It is just awesome to be able to share in Great news on this sight. Keep up the good fight and give my best to your mom and I pray for her speedy recovery and for her hospital bed to treat her well. I just spent a night in the hospital 2 different times in the last 3 weeks and the hospital bed was by far the worst part of everything I experienced. :0)

Elsy, I totally agree with you. I was told a couple of weeks ago by a pharmacist that I should not be taking vitamins during chemo because it would counteract what the chemo was trying to do. Everything I have read about how chemo works totally disagrees with this pharmacists view. I have been wondering about something. They always tell you….”let us know ALL medicines and supplements you are taking……….” to what end? So they can tell you not to take anything and rely solely on them. Why don’t they, instead, hand out a list of known substances that react poorly with whatever chemo agents you are taking. If their are known supplements that you should not take with gem/cis, then why don’t they give you a list of those particular supplements. Instead, they just assume that anything that is good for you is “bad for you”.

Jill, I am so happy to read your post about how healthy you look and feel. I am totally sold on natural remedies. I look for modern medicine chemo to knock down the amount of cancer in my body but I am totally depending on other natural treatments, healthy eating, etc to help my body rid itself of the cancer. Keep up the faith and keep doing all you can to improve your body’s ability to heal itself.
