Hi Jen, So sorry to hear things are not going so well right now. I pray that this can be helped and your dad will be feeling better soon; which will help you all to feel better. This roller coaster is not fun. Sorry that I can not help with blood in the tubes either. We have been fortunate enough that Doug has not needed tubes. Love and prayers to you, Cheryl and the rest of your family.

Hi John, So glad your dad is doing so much better. We just had someone on this site who was diagnosed with Mirizzi syndrome when they first thought it was cc. Apparently it mimics cc. Worth looking into since they can’t confirm that it is cancerous at this time. Wishing you all the best. Nancy

Hi Houston Mom, I am praying the right liver comes along very soon! So glad you are a good candidate. Sounds like you have the right attitude so keep that chin up and keep smiling, it has done you well so far. Nancy

Dear CM, I understand your “ride” totally! I am so glad that your husband is doing better. My husband is also stage IV with mets to liver and bones. Doug does poorly and sleeps for days and I worry and then he bounces back and wants to get out and do things. The other day he said he wanted to take me out for dinner and I was so tired and really wanted to stay home but I did not want him to miss the opportunity of going out for dinner so I went. We had a great time! So we continue the “ride” and enjoy the ups. Hoping your trip is all UP! Sounds like you have a good doctor. You will be in my prayers. Nancy

I too am so sorry your family is in this situation. Do not take inoperable as the final call, especially at 25. Jim mentioned his excellent surgeon Dr. Kato. He is world renowned and will operate when others will not. Jim has excellent advise and he’s been through it. Keep your chin up and I hope you get the answers you want when you see Dr. Faber. You will be in my prayers.

Hi Kelly, I am glad your mom is now going for the second opinion. My husband is stage 4 advanced with no cure but has been treated with palliative chemotherapy which he has responded well to. His cancer is now stable with no progression the last 2 months. Even though this is not a cure it gives us quality time and he is feeling so much better. Not everyone responds to the chemo as you will see on this board but it should be an option for your mom and maybe they will have other options for her. I feel for you – fightin the same battle here. Hugs. Nancy

Hi Cathy, What great news!! Funny to think having a syndrome is great news but it’s better than the alternative! Here’s hoping others will find they have this, too! I read about it and they do say it is often mistaken for cholangiocarcinoma or pancreatic cancer.
What a relief! So glad you are now recovering well. We love success stories. Thank you for sharing!
    Take care of yourself!

Hi Ginnie, I am so glad that you are able to get a transplant! I will pray that it happens soon for you. As you will see on this site, members have had good success with transplants. Take care. Nancy

Thanks all. Doug’s checkup went well. His bilirubin was actually normal!! His ammonia levels continue to be high so going to up the lactulose dosage. They are not too concerned with the swelling at this point because it is not bothering him or affecting his breathing or anything. So, we take one day at a time.
Just about finished week two of work – sooo tired but it’s worth it. The kids were happy to have me back and it’s good to have some normalcy – whatever that is -lol!
    Take care everyone.

Hi Pam, I understand you about the voice. I lost my dad when I was 18 and my mom when I was 41 and it’s their voices that stay clear in my head but I would wish anything to hear them aloud. Anniversaries are hard but also comforting. Your mom is right there with you. It has been 36 years since I lost my dad and 12 for my mom but not a day goes by that I don’t feel their presence. I have many laughs over how much I am turning into my mom! I see her in the mirror every day! Hugs. Nancy
