I’m so sorry to hear about your daughters diagnosis. I have heard good things about Dana Farber but not in relation to CC. My husband went to NYC for 1st and 2nd opinions at NY Pres and Mt Sinai. Excellent hospitals and knowledgeable about cc as Jim indicated. In addition to Dr. Kato I would also recommend Myron Schwartz at Mt Sinai.
Best of luck and please keep us informed. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Hi 2,

My husband is also young (47) and stage IV diagnosed 6 months ago. I can relate to your state of shock and disbelief. Once you start treatment you will probably be more focused on the fight like Lainy says. Sometimes on his off weeks from Chemo I can hardly belief he is sick.. He is Gemzar/Cis and its working fairly well though very tough on him.
I’m sending you lots of prayers and well wishes. Keep us posted.

You barely had enough time to digest the diagnosis and now your have to grieve the loss of the love of your life. I hope your find strenght in your children. Know my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Hi Aida and Lulu. Thanks for responding.
Aida, the dr. is Myron Schwartz from Mount Sinai.
    Has your fathers cancer metastisized?

Lulu, my husbands mets are in his spine so no chance that the reports were read incorrectly. They biopsied his spine and confirmed adenocarcinoma. I think we will get another opinion. The oncologist is vehemently against the surgery. We need a tie breaker vote!.

Will keep you posted and happy to hear you are doing so well.

    Best,

Janine, since you are in Ma, ct area you may want to consider taking a trip to NYC. My husband is going to be seeing Myron Schwartz and others have seen him as well. He has expericence with this type of cancer and very highly thought of. Good luck

Hi SDAS, regarding your question about how to approach your friend I can only tell you that my husbands friends have reached out to us offering whatever help and support they can. The outpouring of support has meant the world to both of us. His friends, many who I don’t know, have provided me with their contact information offering to change a lightbulb if I need it done! So…I would let your friend know right off the bat that you are there for him in whatever capacity he needs. To run errands, provide rides and just listen. I think that’s all one needs to hear, is that they can count on their friends in times of need.
Good luck and best wishes for your and your friend.

Hi Nancy, thanks for the personal endorsement. It’s great to hear from someone who has been treated by him. We’ve heard lots of great things but all from other physicians. I’m looking forward to meeting him. And again congratulations on your news. It’s always so encouraging to hear others are doing well. Keep it up!!!!

Hi Nancy, thanks for taking the time to write all this down. I’ll do some more research and also consult with our Onc. Yes, we seem to be on the same schedule ! We live right outside of NYC so have access to many great hospitals and doctors.
Not sure I mentioned but the Pet scan is scheduled on Friday. Good luck to both of us and best wishes and prayers. Keep me posted!!!!
