Enjoy any activity, anywhere, and raise money to help fund a cure for cholangiocarcinoma, a rare cancer of the bile ducts

SALT LAKE CITY, UT – TeamCCF is inviting athletes who want to fundraise for the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation to do so in a fun and positive way. Moving for the Cure takes place July 24-30, 2022, and involves participants of all ages, and any athletic ability, raising money through a fitness event of their choosing. Participants may choose to run, bike, walk, play a game of volleyball, host a dance party, rollerblade, and more.

"Moving for the Cure is something anyone can do, and we are thrilled to join our community in this exciting event. We hope it brings smiles and laughter to all involved now and for years to come,” said Meredith McGuffage, TeamCCF Coordinator.

Moving for the Cure was created during the pandemic when marathons and 5K events were canceled. TeamCCF wanted to host a fundraiser that would bring family, friends, and the community together in a fun and safe way. Since its inception, this event has raised more than $148,000. However, this year, the goal is to raise $75,000.

An estimated 10,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with CCA each year, and tens of thousands more worldwide. However, the incidence of the rare cancer is growing, and research funding is much needed. To address the increased need for funding, Moving for the Cure raises awareness about rare bile duct cancer and solicits donations earmarked for cholangiocarcinoma-specific research.

“I participated in Moving for the Cure to honor all those who have fought and continue to fight the battle of cholangiocarcinoma as well as those who are and have been caregivers,” said Kay Free, campaign participant. “I move for hope, hope that no one else will lose that amazing smiling face across from them at the dinner table and a cure will be found to put an end to this horrible cancer once and for all.

Each athlete sets up a fundraising page (through MobileCause), commits to raising at least $200 per individual or $350 per family, and emails or posts a photo of their activity to social media with the hashtag, #M4C22.

Registration Fee:

  • Early Registration (now - July 5th)

  • $30 per individual

  • $60 per family (up to 4 people)

Register today to help move for the cure.

Each registered athlete receives a Moving for the Cure t-shirt, a cholangiocarcinoma awareness wristband, a personalized fundraising page to share with family and friends, and a finisher's medal when the fundraising minimum is achieved.

In preparation for the campaign, the public is asked to join the Foundation for Incentive Week, June 27-July 2, 2022. During this week, a daily video is posted on the Foundation's Facebook page. These videos feature different community members drawing names from an aggregate of all participants registered to win a TeamCCF swag item.

The Foundation is grateful to Incyte, this year’s  presenting sponsor. Companies may join Incyte by also becoming a sponsor. All proceeds go directly to help fund research for this rare cancer.

The Foundation expects to have more than 600 participants globally. Sponsoring company are recognized in Moving for the Cure emails (40,000+ contacts), Foundation Facebook page (15,000+ followers), and on the Moving for the Cure website (thousands of visits annually).
