Welcome maebas2. Similar to you my mom is 56 and healthy as can be when they found her liver mass a year ago. All my best to you and your family. It sounds as though you guys are in a great place to get treatment!

Great news! Congratulations on your clean CT scans.

You can conquer the diabetes and the disks… just minor stuff compared to what you have already been through. ;-)

That is very reassuring! Thanks for your response! I am also happy to see that your mom is responding to the Xeloda. My mom has been quite optimistic about this the past two weeks – just feeling mentally like this is working – and her doctor hasn’t seemed quite as optimistic with the Xeloda. But I have seen good things mentioned here to this point.

Good luck to your mom as well. Thoughts and prayers are with you both.

    Welcome ejhern,

My mom had a successful resection last year at this time with clean margins. Unfortunately spots started showing up a few months after resection. I don’t know if it would have changed where she is at this point or not but I know she does this hindsite thing wondering whether or not she should have done chemo then. Her doctor at the time said, “there’s just no good chemo treatments that I know of for this”. She has a new doctor and is on chemo now.

Given what my mom went through, I would push for chemo or at least get a second or third opinion. Everyone seems to have different experiences and the cancer seems to be very unpredictable. Good luck!

Neat! I am a scientist – chemist by training and am very familiar with Raman spectroscopy. I often feel left out when trying to navigate the research on cancer because I am so not a biologist. I just love it when I come across something that I DO understand well in this realm. Thanks for posting that.

I hope your procedure went well! I am anxious to hear what the procedure entailed, if you have time to post after the fact.

Wishing you the best Nancy! My mom is 55 and was diagnosed this year and is on gemcitibine and oxaliplatin right now. I don’t have answers for your questions, but am confident others here will.
