    Hi Alex!
I’d like to join Darla in welcoming you to our site. I don’t know the answers either, but you can always use the search function on the site to see if anyone has posted anything about peritoneal nodules before.

I know my insurance company (Blue Cross/Shield) has turned down Tarceva for me.

Wishing for the best for you and your Mum!

I’m so sorry to hear your news. Words fail me at a time like this. I’m sure she is in Heaven now singing with the angels.

Carol, thank you for your update. That verse from 2 Corinthians really hits home these days. I will keep you and Charlie in my prayers, as I pray every day for everyone on this board who are afflicted with cholangiocarcinoma.

1Pe 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1Pe 1:4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,
1Pe 1:5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
1Pe 1:6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,
1Pe 1:7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith–more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire–may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

    Sophie,
I don’t have any answers for you, but you have my prayers and know that God loves you. He says, “Fear not”. Put your trust in Him, for He cares for you.

    Much Love,

    Hi Robyn,
I’m 46, and when I was diagnosed in August 2007 I had a 6 cm tumor. I had radiation in Oct 2007 and have been on Xeloda and Gemzar since Sept 2007. My tumor shrunk to only 2 cm. Don’t give up hope! Your mom may respond well to the treatment. You are doing the right thing to stay informed and involved with your mom’s treament.

    God bless,
    Lisa

That’s crazy – you either need it or you don’t. What difference does it make if it does or doesn’t fit into a neat little category for the insurance company? It really is a challenge for us to have this orphan cancer.

    Thanks for your kind words!

I have possible lung mets, but I’m not too concerned about them because there’s really not a lot they can do about them right now. I’m taking everything that they throw at me :)

The cholangiocarcinoma will kill me before any type of lung mets will :)

    Off to chemo!

Ha, I found out that when I quit drinking carbonated soda pop, I didn’t have problems with gas anymore.

    No more Diet Pepsi :(

I’ve been on Xeloda since Sept 07, and am just now experiencing side effects with my hands and feet. However, vitamin B6 is helping to alleviate the foot pain and hand tingles.

You’re right, we don’t know who will react favorably to chemo and who won’t. Because of that, I would personally opt for chemo after resection. You don’t know if you will be that one who will react well to chemo. And if you have bad reactions, you can always stop.
