SpectatorHi ladies,
I am so sorry for the loss of your husbands. I understand about feeling alone, and your friends not calling. Maybe they don’t know how to relate to you as a “single” and think that you would ask for help if you need it? I hope you don’t lose contact with your friends; as Darla said during the holidays you will need all the support you can get.I don’t have as many people emailing me or contacting me anymore, either, though I am in a different situation as I’m the one with cancer.
God bless you ladies,
Lisalisa
SpectatorHi Tess,
My tumor shrunk 50% from radiation & chemotherapy. I am now free of stents. I’ve been on chemo for 15 months (Gemzar/Xeloda). I don’t think that it’s helping shrink the tumor anymore, but I believe that chemo is keeping it from spreading.lisa
SpectatorGreat news, Lainy. I’m so glad for you both. It’s good to have a doctor who will fight for you.

SpectatorStacie,
Thank you so much for the update. It’s so heartening to know that there are people like you and the other members of the board dedicated to making a difference.lisa
SpectatorHi Mary Anne,
May God give you and Joe strength and faith in these times.
God bless you,

SpectatorLet’s keep in touch! I did have fun – and Jim, you are not alone!

SpectatorJim, Jean and I met at Chang’s in Alderwood last night. It was great to meet in person. We enjoyed a nice meal together. It turned out that Jean and I had the same oncologist and surgeon. I wish we could all meet in person some day. I took a picture, but not sure how it turned out yet.

SpectatorDuring a bad marriage and it’s aftermath, I drank about 2 drinks a night (about a year’s duration, total of heavier drinking). About a year later I got sick. I don’t know if it is one of the causes, but it probably bears looking into.
That was really about the only “heavy” drinking I did, and some wouldn’t even consider that a lot of drinking. So who knows?

SpectatorLooking forward to tonight. I’ll bring my camera. My daughter might come along, too.

SpectatorHey John, don’t get discouraged. I was diagnosed in August 2007 (given 3 weeks to live) and I’m still alive and kicking.
My tumor was originally 6 cm and with radiation and treatment (gemzar/xeloda) has shrunk over 50%. I feel fine except for fatigue and am still working and supporting my three kids. I’m a single parent.
There is hope – some people respond very well to treatment, while others don’t. You just never know until you try. Attitude is very important, too.

SpectatorOk Jean, you can be in charge of reservations. I’ll get there a few minutes early (maybe with my beret, haha!)
I’m blond, 45ish, and have twinkling blue eyes.
I’ll be coming in alone, so count me as (1).

SpectatorJeff, I just shake my head at all you have endured. My thoughts and prayers go with you and all patients and caregivers on this site.

SpectatorWould 6:00 work out ok? I have an early bedtime – I start fading out about 8:00 in the evening. I’m excited to meet those who can make it.

SpectatorHi Nikki, glad to have you join our little club. I hope the best for your Mom!
Gale, the forecast here is for rain, followed by showers, followed by more rain. If you were a Northwesterner, you would know what that means, haha!
I haven’t made peace with the fatness yet, but then again I think the reason I want to be thin(er) is to attract a man, so that seems like a rather superficial reason to want to be fit. Ha – no man would want to get involved with a woman with cancer anyway. So really the weight gain shouldn’t bother me, but a lifetime of angst over my weight is hard to overcome.
