Hi Ritchie, Sorry I can’t be any help about surgery, my husband was not a canditate. I am concerned about your pain, though. My husband tried a few pain killers before he found the one that worked for him – hydromorphone. Everyone is different, but I am sure there is something out there for you.
I will be praying for you on your upcoming surgery. Usually surgery done laproscopically has less risk because it is less invasive. I’m rooting for you.

Dear Nancy, I can understand the mixed emotions; we do get attached to our jobs and the people within it. I am quite certain that you my girl will not really be retired at all! Sounds like you have already filled in that time. Your grandson and the volunteer world will be even more blessed by your presence. I can already see how much you give to your family and community already. Congratulations, a very well deserved retirement. Enjoy!

Hi Ash, My husband did not tolerate morphine well so he takes hydromorphone which is working very well for him. You can read about it on the web and ask the doctor. Take care and I hope you find something to relieve your mom’s pain. Nancy

Hi Ritchie, My husband had a radiation rash which looked like a measle like rash right on the area they radiated on his back. The doctor recommended glaxal base moisturizing cream which you can buy at the drugstore. If the rash is coming up in areas that were not radiated it is probably from something else. Hope this helps. Just 2 days until Monday! Good luck! Nancy .

Hi Simon, Sounds like your wife has done very well and is doing well. If the cancer kicks back in and she starts to decline she can get other treatment (different chemo for example). I’m praying that it doesn’t! People can live in remission for years! Wishing you all the best! Nancy

Dear Shari, sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing and to be having to go through that at this time in your life ( but there is never a good time I suppose). What a beautiful cycle of life being born and dying on the farm. I am so glad you were able to spend the weekend at his bedside.
Doug has his second dose of cycle 5 Wednesday so he is one step behind you. The fatigue is hitting him harder now and I find emotions come with that. We look forward to his week off. Go kick some butt tomorrow! I’ll be thinking of you. Hugs.

Dearest Melanie, Keep venting it’s okay. We are here. Let your grief come. People grieve differently. Whatever you need to do is okay. I agree with Nancy that I think your kids coming back will help you. They need you, you need them. And you can talk to us about Barry anytime. I’d love to hear about him and I will tell you about the love of my life Doug. I am praying for that strength for you girl, but I think you already have it. Sending lots of love and prayers from Revelstoke B.C.

Dear Charlea, I too am hoping all went well with the surgery. My husband has had radiation on bone mets. Other than fatigue and skin burns, radiation is usually very well tolerated – easier than chemo. Praying for good results! Hugs. Nancy

Dear Melanie, I am so sorry to hear of your beloved Barry’s passing. I guess there can be some comfort in the shock of him going quickly in that he will be suffering no more. My kids are grown and in their 20’s and this is hard for us, I can’t imagine with 2 young children. I hope you have a lot of support there for you as you go through this most difficult time. You know we are always here for you so do keep in touch. Thinking of you often and sending much love to you, your children and the rest of yours and Barry’s families. Barry will be with you forever.
    Hugs

Lanne, You definitely have had your share of sorrow. Your mom sounds just lovely and I am glad you are finding peace in that she is with your dad. I know how hard this if for you, for no matter what age we are we feel orphaned at the passing of our parents. Take comfort in knowing they are always with you, you will feel their presence everyday. Take care. Nancy
