Sue, thanks for the information. That makes total sense what your doctor said. I think most doctors out there just don’t have enough experience with cc to know what to recommend.
10 MONTHS – THAT IS GREAT NEWS!! I love your picture on faces of cc. Now I can put a face with your writing. We’ll have one on soon. You’re right. It does take time, but I can see improvement in Charlie not day to day, but week to week. It’s only been 5 weeks and he’s doing so much better. You and your family take care too.

carol58SpectatorRichard, don’t feel too bad. One of the biggest games of the season and Charlie can’t watch it either. It’s only on the NFL Network. I’m glad you got some better news about your Dad!

November 29, 2007 at 2:47 pm in reply to: Almost ran into Kris from Sweden today in Chapel Hill, NC #18069carol58SpectatorCharlie is doing well, although I had been worried about his energy, his color, really everything. Dr. Sanoff reassured us or me that was normal after the surgery. He will improve. It may take 6 months or longer for him to return to feeling like he did before he got sick. She wants him to come back every 3 months for an MRI. As of now, she thinks he has no cancer that anyone is aware of. That being said, we talked about the line between reality and hope. We can’t just sit around waiting for the cancer to pop up again as I’m sure so many people here have learned. He is still very tired, but we’re so thankful he’s passed his 6 month mark they gave him to start with and he’ll be with us longer. We’ll be meeting with Dr. Blackstock at Baptist here in W-S who she recommended to get more information about radiation treatment. She said Charlie’s margins were clear after surgery, which was very good. There’s not enough data available for her to say she would recommend radiation after surgery or not. If Charlie does have radiation, he can get it done closer to home as it will be every day for a while. Again, we’ll have to find out as much as we can and try to make the decision that will work for him. Please share your thoughts on radiation after surgery if anyone can.
Kris, I’m glad you had a good meeting with Dr. Sanoff. Good for you telling her you want more than long term survival. Seems like we fight, fight, fight all the time. I told every doctor we ever met that 6 months was unacceptable and we were going to get more. I’m glad you found out about Medicare too and coming back to the US if you need to for treatment.
You and your family continue to be in my prayers for your upcoming surgery. Keep us posted. Have a safe trip back to Sweden. Are you parents having a hard time with all the information Dr. Sanoff gave you?

carol58SpectatorJeff, hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving. I’m sorry about the pain you’ve been experiencing in your shoulders and left arm. I pray for good results tomorrow when you meet with your oncologist. You have such a positive attitude and keep us all going.

carol58SpectatorDear Ted,
Yours and Patty’s story is one of faith and love. Thank you for sharing it. I pray that Charlie and I can stand as firm in our faith as you and Patty have witnessed to the world for whatever God has in store for us. He is truly in control.Prayers and love,
Carolcarol58SpectatorI’m so sorry to hear of the passing of your husband. You truly have a beautiful family. You’ll know when the time is right to put Jacques’ story on the site. I’m sure it’s a wonderful story and he had a wonderful life full of love. Prayers are being said for you and yours.

carol58SpectatorDear Richard, I pray for God’s Hand to touch, heal and comfort your Dad and strength for your family. I don’t know what’s involved with all the procedures your Dad is having done, but it sounds intense. God will see you through!

carol58SpectatorKaren, I’m so sorry for your and your husband’s pain. Sometimes it’s hard to sort through all the information, but this site is the best one I’ve found. There are a lot of caring and smart people here who can help. My husband also has CC. Vent all you want, we all have at one time or another. Research this site and ask for help if you need it. Stay strong, don’t give up. Could you possibly get 2nd or 3rd opinions on any other options? Depending on where you live, someone on this site possibly could refer you to someone knowledgable in your area. Take care of yourself.

carol58SpectatorDear Greg, so sad to hear the news of your mother in law. I’m glad you find comfort in that she’s no longer in pain. I’m so sorry you and your family are going through this. Wish I could say something to help. Prayers and good thoughts coming your way.

carol58SpectatorHi Lisa Ann, you have been so supportive and encouraging to me and Charlie. I’m so grateful for you. I hope things are going alright with your Dad and your family. Let us know when you can.
Love and prayers,
Carolcarol58SpectatorRichard, Charlie got such a kick out of reading this. Anybody that loves the Cowboys like he does is great with him! He usually smokes a turkey outside with a charcoal smoker for the big shindig with us, his sisters and their family’s. We’re going to put that tradition on hold this year, but definitely get back to it next Thanksgiving. Slow cooked for 12 to 15 hours with a little wood for smokiness thrown in. That’s a good turkey!
Prayers coming your way,
Carol -
