ModeratorHi Duke,
I’m not really the one best placed to help on this one as I haven’t read any of the books and didn’t see the TV series adaptation that the BBC did of Hamish McBeth either. I had a quick look at the wiki page for Hamish McBeth and it seems that the author was not too happy about the tv series of her books. That doesn’t surprise me though as that happens a lot with books going over to fil and tv I would argue.
I take it that the characters in the book are crofters and live the crofting lifestyle? If so that is very far away from the majority of Scotland now but many families and communites do still live that life in rural areas of Scotland, and good on them if they can make it pay I say!
A link for you about crofting Duke if you are interested. http://www.crofting.scotland.gov.uk/
And yes, without having read the books I would agree with you that the descriptions of the land would be grand!

ModeratorHi Wensdi,
I am so sorry to hear about your son and what he is going through with all of this, my heart goes out to you. No I am not in the medical field but part of my role here on the site is searching the internet and posting what research comes out that I feel is relevant to CC and may be of use or help to everyone. I first came here in 2008 after my dad was diagnosed with CC and got so much help from everyone and I like and want to be able to repay that help to others if I can. My dad passed away in 2009 but there is no way that I am leaving my family here.
How is your son getting on with the chemo? I have no problem speaking to you off board but I know that you will get so much more support and help from everyone here on the boards so please feel free to ask anything and we will do what we can to help. We are all here for you and we care.
As to the trial at MD Anderson, I am not sure about that one but hopefully someone else here may have heard about it. Have you searched through the clinical trials database? It can be found here –
http://cholangiocarcinoma.org/professionals/research/clinical-trials/
Please keep coming back, we are here for you.
My best wishes to you and your son,
Gavin

ModeratorWHOA…….. blind mules??? I ain’t into sitting on a blindfolded mule and trusting it to lead me down the GC! Think I’d rather walk down it myself than put my faith in a blindfolded mule! That is crazy!!!
Look at it this way, do you think Uncle Duke would trust me to take that tandem down that video I posted here on the site of the mountain in Scotland with me blindfolded. And of course Duke on the back not blindfolded but me steering it with zero site due to my blindfold.
Think I know what Duke will say to that idea!!!
Would love to see the GC someday, looks amazing!
