SpectatorDonna, I am so sorry for your loss. My condolences.

SpectatorI hope the COBRA extension passes. That is literally a lifesaver for those of us who exhaust our benefit time period but are not yet ready for medicare. It’s like “what to do for those six months between the end of COBRA and the beginning of disability insurance through medicare.”

SpectatorProbably the best place start looking is the hospital where you are receiving treatment.
My only complaint about my hospital is that the only cancer support groups are for women with breast cancer. They’d kick me out
lisa
SpectatorI got a radiation tatoo. I asked for butterflies, but got little dots instead.

SpectatorLast month my plastic stents were plugged because I was fighting an infection and the inflammation swelled the surrounding tissues. As soon as the infection was controlled, the stents unplugged and I didn’t need an ERCP. Kind of weird.

SpectatorIt continually suprises people when I tell them that there is no financial aid out there for our type of cancer. It seems to cruel to punish people for having the wrong type of cancer. Cancer is cancer and can be devastaing financially no matter what kind you have. Why cancer help can’t be made available for all – not just the politically correct kind – just boggles my mind. Marion, I know you are trying and it’s not your fault!
I tell people I don’t support Susan B Komen for the Cure because they don’t support me. And I never wear a pink ribbon. So there!

SpectatorI have a local doctor, and while experience is good, it is also good to have someone who is familiar with you and your unique case.

SpectatorOh Hollie, you are so good for caring and loving your aunt so much. I think of her often and pray for her. She is going through such a difficult time, but she is so brave. It is strange to me, too, how this horrible disease affects us in different ways. Sophie seems to be suffering more than most, and it breaks my heart. I am so glad she has someone living with her to help her out.
Love you Hollie, and give my love to Sophie too.lisa
SpectatorThanks for sharing, Houston Mom. My doctor mentioned Tarceva as a last resort – I think I will share your experience with him so we can try it earlier rather than later.
Our toolbox is getting a little empty – we’ve used about 6 different combinations so far and my body stops responding after a few months of a new regimen.

SpectatorBile tubes/drains are horrible. My sympathies. Don’t be hesitent go to the emergency room if you have to.
lisa
SpectatorYour mom sounds like a brave and amazing woman. I’m so sorry for your loss. We have another angel in Heaven waiting for us.
lisa
SpectatorJeff was a great guy. I am sure he is watching over us and praying for us in Heaven. We miss you!

SpectatorHey Rick, if you are getting jaundiced, my advice is to get to the doctor right away and see what the problem is. I just got out of the hospital yesterday because I didn’t pay enough attention to the symptoms of infection. I think the infection clouds my judgement and I don’t think I am as sick as I really turn out to be.
Regarding lung mets: My lungs look like a star field in the CT scan, and I have a 1 cm and a 2 cm tumor in my lungs. However, I remain symptom free as far as the lungs are concerned.
