Gavin….Hoping your Mum is feeling bettter soon….also just thought I would chime in being a Giants fan! Seems to me they are playing at a very high level right now….Good luck to all….should be an exciting playoff season!
Carol…What a great story with a wonderful outcome! I to was able to have surgery only because I did seek a second opinion….this cancer needs to…has to be treated by someone with much experience…..wishing you and your husband nothing but the best!! Keep posting here we love it!
NancyDianne…wonderful, wonderful news on the clear scan praying for many more for you! My onc does alpha fetoprotein tests….its more for hepatocelluar carcinoma than CC…..my last level was 24 and if I’m getting it right abnormal is in the hundreds….wish I had more info for you!
NancyLisa…I have had a dual port for almost three years….I do feel that I get some swelling right after my port if flushed but it is never painful. Also, on a few of my CT scans they did note that there may be a thrombosis turns out there was no thrombosis but again I did not have any pain. The ultrasound should get to the bottom of your pain. Hoping you get some answers and they can relieve you of the pain. Hang in there sending prayers your way…..
NancyHi….I had 4 cycles of Gem/Cis and lost no hair and had no side effects…..after surgery I received 5-FU..leucovorin…oxaliplatin..and 2 other chemo meds which I forget now…I lost no hair and had no side effects with them…third time I had chemo it was Abraxane…Xeloda….Nexavar…and Oxaliplatin…this was not as kind a combination as the other 2….I lost my hair it started to thin the 3rd week in and then just came out in droves I lost all of my hair within 1 week not to say that happens to everyone all of us are different. I also had hand foot syndrome which I think was caused by the Xeloda..Nexavar…and Abranxane combo. Best of luck to your Mom..you are a wonderful daughter being by her side through all of this I’m sure it gives her more comfort then you will ever know.

NancyTiff…..This is just such uplifting news…I’m so happy for you and will be praying that everything will go perfectly…you know we CC patients freak, get anxious, scared and nervous over just about everything I don’t think we would be human if we didn’t. Thank God we have our awesome caretakers,friends and family with us! Please keep us updated…you go girl!

NancyJoanna….What a great post….I’m also a firm believer in multiple opinions, as it was a second opinion which made me a candidiate for surgery after being told I was not and would never be…I’ve been in that dark place too and much prefer being in the light….lets stay there! Prayers that your surgery is a total success and a speedy recovery for you!
