Vincent…had you transferred the records to Dr. Lenz, already or, how does he determine the ugency of your visit? Vincent…would you be so kind as to send an e-mail to me? You probably know how to do this but, just in case. Under the name on left, top, you will see e-mail.

Vincent….I thought to write to you until Barbara has a chance to answer your questions. When my husband was diagnosed we made sure to follow the leads to three different specialists of whom not all agreed on the direction to take with his treatments. This is time consuming and stressful however, it was possible. Always, I find it of utmost importance to gather all records and forward them to the specialists in this field of cholangiocarcinoma. This will allow you to make informed decisions. Are other family members involved other then you and your sister? If so, you might want to reach out and ask for some help. I am hoping for your Mom to feel well and your day at school to be productive. Please, stay in touch.
Hugs to you and your family,
    Marion

rlunicorn….I am so sorry to hear that your Mom had so little warning about this cancer. My heart goes out to you. You will see that on this board others have had similar circumstances with their loved ones being diagnosed at a very late stage. I am so glad that you have joined us and I am sure for others to be responding to you, real soon.
My very best wishes to you and your family,
    Marion

Glen..you are doing just fine. There is a Quck post following the last thread. That seems to be the easiest way of responding to replies.

glenjamin….First and foremost it is wonderful to hear that you are not suffering from this cancer. I don’t have any answer as to what damage has been done to you with chemotherapy (if any) although, I would ask the physicians that very same question. You might also want to read up on the different agents and look at the part none of us care to look at: the side effects, which may or may not give you some answers to your questions. More then anything I am happy for you to not having to deal with this cancer. Congratulations.

vincent…you have reason to feel relieved. Everything is falling in to place. I assume that your Mom will be discharged tomorrow and hopefully, the transfer to the City of Hope will be uneventful. Definitely, I would have Dr. Giap review the medical records of your Mom as I am a strong believer in 2nd, 3rd or even more opinions. This cancer does not occur enough for any one physician to be the absolute authority in re: to the treatment protocol. You have taken on so much and you are admirable in the way that you are advocating for your Mom. Sending all my best wishes your way.

Thanks for the explanations. Just wondering it must be a custom from way back and have some sort of meaning. I would love to know that, also.

Patty: I was expecting a link posted by you in re: to men in kilts. Still laughing at your comment

And, I almost forgot…possibly, we can use the “Cafe” to further discuss this special day in Scotland

Carol…as far as I know only tablets (not capsules) can be cut in to smaller pieces. Good luck with the oncologist, today.

Jean…..I don’t put much value in to the statistics. Also, it is the application of a probability theory to specific data. In other words: “It calculates the probability.” It had been explained to us: This is your cancer and you have your own response and not that of another person.

Carol…I am wondering.. possibly, could Charlie use 1/2 of an Ambien? Or, have to tried the non-generic form to see if he is responding similarly? Also, is he taken time-release Ambien? Hoping for someone to be able to pass on some information in re: to Charlies’s caughing.
    Tons of good wishes
