Judith Ressmeyer Hinsch

Judith (Judy) Ressmeyer Hinsch, of Plainview, NY, passed away on January 8, 2022 of Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer) at the age of 69.

Judy was born in Baltimore, MD and grew up on Long Island, in New York. She attended Our Redeemer Lutheran School in Seaford, NY, Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, NY, Concordia College in Bronxville, NY, and Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, IL (now Concordia University Chicago). She was a lifelong Lutheran schools teacher and administrator. Her first call was to Calvary Lutheran School in Havertown, PA, where she taught a combined first and second grade class for three years. She then taught first and second grade at Nassau Lutheran in Mineola, NY for three years and preschool at Good Shepherd Lutheran School in Plainview, NY, where she also served as interim director for a year. In 1983, as a new mother of two, she decided to channel her commitment to early learning into work as a representative for Discovery Toys, a company that sells educational toys, books, and games. She ran a successful business until 2006, when she transitioned to the role of Director at Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool. In recent years, she used her gifts of leadership and expertise in early childhood education to support Lutheran preschools in the tri-state area as a consultant.

Judy and John Hinsch were married in 1977 and had three children. Judy is survived by her husband, John, and their three children: Jessica Raba (Douglas) of Brookville, NY; Bethany Wilinski (Daniel) of Ann Arbor, MI; and Jordan of Miami, FL, four grandchildren (Isabelle, Danny, Eloise, Clara), and three siblings: Marcia Sink (Manchester, NH); Paul Ressmeyer (Marshall, NC); and Timothy Ressmeyer (Asheville, NC). She was preceded in death by her sister Faith Ressmeyer and parents, The Reverend Rudolph P.F. and Virginia Ressmeyer.
