From Football to Fine Art – A family finds creative ways to raise funds and awareness

In the summer of 2022, Taylor's family received devastating news: her dad had been diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma. As a first responder on 9/11, her dad is no stranger to risks, but the reality of facing an aggressive illness was still unimaginable. Determined to fight alongside him, Taylor and her family poured all their energy into supporting his battle.

Amid this challenging journey, Taylor found hope through engaging her friends and family in raising awareness. With determination and creativity, she organized a Superbowl square pool, selling each square for $15. She intended to donate half the winnings to CCF. It was a big surprise to her when most of the winners returned their prize money to the cause, going directly to the Foundation.

The fundraiser not only raised $1,400 but also served as a platform to raise awareness for the disease. It was an opportunity to open up conversations about her dad's diagnosis, educating others about this rare cancer and inspiring support. People reached out with questions, showing solidarity and compassion. Many donated to the cause, moved by Taylor's family's resilience and determination.

Taylor and her sisters Jenna and Alexa found another way to channel their energy into something positive. Their mom, Maryanne, created a fundraiser, donating a portion of the proceeds from her beautiful artwork to CCF’s research initiatives. Those interested in supporting the cause can find her artwork on Instagram (@colorforshore) and send her a direct message on the app with the piece they have selected. The artwork will be shipped to the purchaser, and the donation will go directly to research that improves patient treatment options.

For Taylor and her family, giving back holds profound significance. It's not just about raising funds; it's about being actively involved, spreading awareness, and fostering a sense of community. Through their involvement with the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, they have found invaluable support. Online support groups and sharing personal stories have connected them with others navigating similar challenges. This solidarity strengthens their resolve and fuels their hope for the future.
